I've a stable 9-5 and am considering a temporary second. I'd like to expedite the paying off of a few bills.

Who works 2 jobs? Who's got the skills to pay the billz?

I work two or three jobs depending on the week. Just being DMG lawyer boy don't always pay the bills.

2 jobs is crazy talk!
If you feel that you need a 2nd job, you actually need a new 1st job..

My second job is at a bike shop (usually) 1 day a week. The owner made it too enticing to completely quit when I found my real job. The only times it has really sucked was when I got roped into working 2 days a week; twice this year I worked over 25 days straight. It's nice to have the extra cash though, working there only 4 days a month nets me enough to cover my car and phone bill. When I think of it that way it doesn't seem so bad. As soon as I'm off the training salary at my other job I'll probably quit so I can know what it feels like to have 2 days off per week.

I guess I work 2 or 3.

Im a field services Tech for a company called Prolitec (Im salaried but only work about a day or two a week)

I work at a local bike shop as a mechanic a day or two a week

Previous to the Prolitec gig, I was a Senior Graphic Designer for MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust, so I do some freelance work on the side as well. Mostly just to trade for car parts really.

In total I might work a 3 or 4 day work week.

i guess you could say that i work 2-3-4 jobs. i pull my regular 40 hour week (4 on/3 off) and work several different off-duty gigs on my days off. the off-duty jobs aren't paid through the city but i'm, in essence, being paid privately to police in a select area such as an apartment complex, roller rink, ball game..etc. i'll be pulling a 110 hour week coming up soon for furniture market where i'll work my regular shift and then go on to work off-duty for the market.
so i guess that counts as extra jobs? i may wear the same uniform but it's in addition to my required 40 hour week.

I have a salaried engineering gig that is 50+hrs a week. I manage a rental property, and have a large property to manage that I live on. I also started a blog writing up my projects. On paper I have 1 job, but I guess I do enough work for it to be considered 2.
The workload took some getting used to, but you learn to handle it. My advice is to try to take time off every few months so you don't get burned out.

If I ever want to ride bikes again, I will probably have to get a 2nd job.
I was cut back in hours at my main job last year, I've been scraping by. Not a whole lot open here in terms of jobs and can't relocate (house), so yeah.
I'm not looking forward to it, I can barely stand this job. But I only have enough to cover my bills (And I don't have that many), not to do anything fun.

I used to run a side business that paid very little but I enjoyed it. Right now I am hourly and working 60+ weeks, so the thought of a second just makes me tired. I would like to do some side projects this winter and hope to make some coin on the side. But a second job would be for fun money (projects), not bills.

I get to work OT at my job along with getting paid for being on call a week or more each month, but sometimes it feels like I have a second job.

Have you given any thought to what you want to do? I'd throw a suggestion out for Nordstroms if you are interested in retail at all. My buddy worked there for a while and said it was a great gig. Straight commission that always beats out your hourly pay and a pretty chill place to work.

When wife went on maternity leave after Alaina was born, I worked any odd job at the casino. Besides my main job of dealing cards, I worked in our diamond lounge in the mornings, helped our tracking-card department after shift, tried limo driver (I can't spell sho-fer-ing), and the odd pit clerk stuff when needed. All so wife would be the only one taking care of Alaina for those first 6 months. Not much time off, yet the paychecks were worth it........

I would like to reccomend UPS shift loading. Load trucks from either 5-9am or 5-9pm 5 days a week from the middle of November through the holidays. If you aren't stoked, you've got holiday money. If you like it, they're usually gung ho to keep good workers on after the holiday.

Get paid respectable. And they run a tight ship so you don't have to deal with pot heads taking 20 minute safety breaks.

And no other 2nd job I've ever had has hours that convenient that you still have your weekends.

I worked for a while managing a bike shop and doing data entry late at night for a law office.

Then I worked full time at a law office doing paralegal work and part time at a bike shop as a sales guy.

Then I worked full time at a law office doing paralegal work and doing additional paralegal work on the side reviewing gang activity reports from local police departments.

Now I work full time at a law office doing paralegal work and do photography on the side (weddings, families, kids, etc.) Right now the photography just pays for my Nikon Acquisition Syndrome (NAS) because I buy too much gear. But hopefully in a year it will begin to supplement some income, and in 2-3 years, I'll be doing it full time.

Hmmm, now that sounds like a good physical job.

I sit in front of a computer all day, the last thing I want to is more computer work. I'm going to look into that, thanks.

One would think your prodigious fotochop talent would provide ample opportunity for freelance dough.

That was my first job when I moved to Portland. I worked the "sunrise" shift from 3am-7am and had school at 8. The time went by crazy fast, but there were times (like a truck FULL of bench mount grinders) where it just wasn't worth it at the time.

But if you go into it knowing it's for 3 months or whatever, it would be a cardio ass kicker.

I have no idea where I am
In addition to the metalsmithing/jewelry design I'm a budding web designer. I'm currently whoring myself until I have enough sites up to build a portfolio. Fortunately I've been able to do some collaborative work with a top level calligrapher/typographer lately. He gives me the comps and I hand code the xhtml and css to turn it into a standards compliant website. Definitely getting my learn on.

I checked UPS and the seasonal positions aren't open yet. I think that's the winner.

I didn't work for UPS, I worked for RPS (Roadway Package Service?) but it was the exact same setup. I know I just got an email about the seasonal stuff starting soon, so you are only a few weeks early at the most.
