For Jersey, clearly you need one of these: http://www.vandesselsports.com/?page_id=35
So what is it you don't like about the Specialized, and which Niner are you looking at? The Jet 9 that you linked is not the Niner frame I'd choose for DH-focused riding.
I race xc, so it can't be dh focused. I actually ride my epic like a dh bike... tee hee.

What I hate about the epic is... the ****ty brain technology, the weight (really heavy frame), and the flex. It not only looks flexy, but is super flexy as well.

I just like that jet 9 for the super low top tube, head angle, and suspension design. Lets not be shallow now, but I also like light frames and its sleek look. Ohhh, and that flat black, wow!

I live in NNJ and I'm loving my new RIP 9, so I bet the Jet 9 would be just what you're looking for. I dh a lot and feel like the 29er handles similar to my Morewood ( more body english to turn, but nimble as can be). Definitely way more comfortable/better fit/ride than a 26er if you're taller than average. I ride both and have for years, but the 29er is way better for our trails in my opinion.

Message from Jorba:

The County of Bergen is beginning work on a Ramapo Mountains Park Management Plan. The Management Plan is a guide that lays out the vision for where the park wants to be and provides direction for getting there over the next 15-20 years. Your ideas and concerns will help create that vision for what kind of place the Bergen County Ramapo Mountains will be in the future.

As you may be aware, the current policy within Bergen County Parks is to prohibit mountain biking on county-owned lands. Its one of 3 counties that have an outdated policy on this issue so important to many of us.

If you're concerned about the lack of legal riding in Bergen County, especially if you're a county resident, you should get involved in this management plan's details and make your voice heard. Here's what to do:

1. Subscribe to the mailing list so you can keep on top of events:

http://gis.co.bergen.nj.us/forms/ramapo_subscribe.htm

2. Take their short survey: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB229QKNG9Z6M

Anyone can take this survey even non-county residents.

3, Attend the visioning workshop on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Township of Mahwah Administration Building, Senior Activity Center, 475 Corporate Drive, Mahwah, New Jersey.

Source: http://www.co.bergen.nj.us/planning/os/Visioning101019.pdf

Please spread the word and attend the meeting and take the survey.

Thanks,
Art and Ellen White
Everyone must take this survey!!! This is for NJ only, so if you don't care about NJ, then you do not have to take it.

Any Jersey "29ers" riding soon and want to meet up? I'm usually at chimney rock or hartshorne and would really like to check one out. All of the 29er talk has me interested in these things!!
