With your rep power, that would be like pissing into the wind.
hopefully i'm standing in front of you?..i'm sure you do see a lot of older stuff out in the mountain states, but here by the ocean where it doesn't matter that we don't salt the roads cause its in the air, old yotas are few and far between. they just don't last. and i'd still rather have an early bronco than an FJ. same short wheelbase, fully boxed frame, coil springs, V8s, real truck transmissions, and actual 1/2 ton axles on a lot of them. theres a reason the early BAJA 1000s were quite literally dominated in early broncos....

funny, last couple times i drove my ford to baja all the federales were driving hemi chargers, and i saw a lot more escalades and crew cab rangers than i saw toyotas. at least the mexicans are still buying our stuff!

you're right i don't know what a 2nd or 3rd world country is cause i was too busy chewing tobacco and watching baseball instead of paying attention in geography and anthropology. i've never left my hometown cause i'm afraid i will be beaten up, gang raped, robbed and be headed for being uhmericun:rolleyes:

good fer you guys, keep up the fun:thumb:

For the record.... I love the Audi/Pre Current VDub system as well..... freakin' awesome....
Mid size truck? I'd still go Tacoma.....

i'm a truck/suv guy through and through, but talking snow covered pavement, awd is definitely better than 4wd. that said, if you know how to drive either, you'll be fine 90% of the time

Source for numbers, please
I already posted the link to the toyota numbers, it was found very conveniently by searching the internet. It was right on their website, I didn't make the **** up.

Here it is again for your laziness, took less than 5 seconds to pull up.

http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/toyota-in-the-united-states-85187.aspx

GM "had" over 100,000 employees on us soil, its down to 68,000 after the bankruptcy and cut backs.......
General Motors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:General_Motors.svg" class="image"><img alt="General Motors.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0f/General_Motors.svg/100px-General_Motors.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/0/0f/General_Motors.svg/100px-General_Motors.svg.png here is some easy to find info for you.

Hmmm let's think about that, the same amount of employees that toyota employs in the US was just laid off from GM, yet people still don't realize how much more of an economic impact the trickle down effect of economics has on society......

The toyota mini truck is STILL the best truck in that market, as much as I prefer to support the local economy

Thanks for the links. Wasn't so hard, was it? For your future academic endeavours don't be surprised to have people ask for citations. When you're claiming something it's not the responsibility of the reader to Google all your purported facts. That's how the game works.

I did not "claim" anything. I posted facts, if you have a problem with those facts you are free to research them yourself if you did not believe them. As for the link, I had already posted the link to the toyota numbers in a previous post. Sorry, but I didn't realize the rules to your game were that it was my job to educate you because you were too lazy to educate yourself.

Do a resale comparison on toyota Tacoma versus the big three mid size. I know where I like to keep my money and that is in my pocket, your 5 yr old big three trucks aren't worth a sheet. Like I stated before I have had the others the Tacoma I have now is soooo much better than the others it's not even funny 100 k on the odometer and not a single issue my Dakota eats ball joints every 50 k and I have replaced nearly every component in that PIG only reason I keep it is I have a 700' driveway and the Dodge has the plow. I will say other than 02 sensors the motor in it is reliable just absolutely no BALLZ

I was just looking through some local classifieds and i saw a couple of vw caddys. I miss mine. The ones i saw for sale are diesel. One of them only has 78K on it. It's in awesome condition. I'd love something goofy like that again, but I can hardly fit in those little guys.

A little off topic....

So my dad is Chinese and he always buys American because he was born in 1933 and still remembers WW2 and what the Japanese did to Korea/China during their occupation. He drives a Chrystler Town and Country Mini Van. He wanted to buy another van and asked me to do research on the best one. According to Consumer Reports American minivans plain SUCK compared to Japanese. No question about it. I think the town and country got the worst rating of all. Yet he still buys american simply because he hates the Japanese and is willing to buy an inferior product because of it.

So my question....is "Buying American" actually unAmerican in this context? This country is founded on a capitalist system of whoever can make the best widget wins. But are all those people who wave the Buy American flag are actually being socialist in supporting a system that makes inferior products?

I'm a firefighter and a union member. My department issue boots are American Made. Yet the quality and workmanship on them SUCK compare to my friend's department who uses a german boot manufactureer.

If this were a pure Capitalist American society, Ford would be the only American car company standing. So is buy American un- American?

While all this happened, my dad just purchased a 2011 tundra, pretty nice, few cuts for 2011 though, better with a 2010 (at least in limited)

I agree with you completely. I once had a guy in the bike shop that wouldn't buy a bike because they weren't made in the US. I asked him "do you ever shop at Wal Mart?" He said "all the time."

Did the OP buy a new truck?

I just traded in a new body style, extended cab 4x4 Tacoma. It was good for what it was, but I would not buy another. As others have mentioned, the materials and construction are underwhelming. The quality/options make perfect sense when you're looking at the $15,000 base, 2wd, reg cab model. Unfortunately, many of those same materials and lack of features carry over to the 4x4, V6 versions that sticker for over $30,000.

If you want a pickup truck and need to be able to park in a parking garage, the Tacoma's probably the best option. That's why I got one. If you don't need to park in a parking garage, you may want to consider other trucks. IMO, the Tacoma suffers from the classic motor-sailer problem. It's neither a proper truck (too car like, not heavy duty) nor a car (too truck like).

The Tacoma is one of the best stock trucks for off-roading, though. From the factory you can get a rear locker (that doesn't refuse to engage) and it's light and small enough to get around.

I might be a little biased on this as I own a 2010 Tacoma, but I would go with that, or the Nissan Frontier. I vote for the Tacoma because I did plenty of research and bought one because of my findings and I liked it.

Now, for the Nissan Frontier, I was a passenger in a 2009 4 door Frontier back on August 8th. We were on the highway and he had a seizure. Long story short, we hit a tree head on at 70+ MPH. He walked away from the wreck w/a cut on his forehead and bruised ribs. I, on the other hand, broke some bones in my foot/ankle, broke my shoulder and dislocated my elbow. I am still healing, but I think the safety features in that truck saved our lives. Below is a pic (crap cell phone) of the passenger side of what is left of the truck. I really hope my Tacoma will protect the passengers as well as the Frontier did IF I ever need it.
