Why would you choose a Fox 40 over a Boxxer?

so a flexy fork is good thing? i never thought the 40 was too stiff for me. how much do you weigh?
I weigh about 205lbs with my riding gear on. I wouldn't say a flexy fork is a good thing as the new boxxer chassis is a big improvement over the older version as far as steering accuracy goes but i think the 40 is a little bit too much. I think the boxxer has the balance right.

I think the problem with rockshox is the introduction of new damper/rebound technology every now and then. from a manufacturing perspective, if you introduce a new tech, surely there will be end user feedback (may it be good or bad). i think rockshocks need to refine their tech via customer feedback not only with the pros, but also with the end users like us.

unlike the 40's which are running indentical tech over the years (except for the 2011), they have well refined their tech that's why i think 40s are superior than boxxers in less stiction and damping. just my 2 cents.

I hate any company that changes paint or decals each year to boost yearly sales (some want up-to-date models).

Up until this year, my 07 Fox 40s passed as any model since. Now Fox has changed it's paint, I'm gonna have to get me a new '11 model :)

From My experience.

Fox 40:
+1 superior damping
+1 stiffness
+1 less stiction
+1 small bump
+1 fork showing up not broken out of the box
-1 weight
-1 fragile lowers
-fragile bottom out

2010 boxxer team (based on 1 ride)
+1 ease of service
+after market options
+1 direct mount stem (useless comparison now)
-1 bottom out (spring side bumper wtf?)
-1 maxle
-1 worst casting ever
-1 that I like my manipoo travis way better than this fork.

Ive also seen way less structural issues with the 40 in comparison to the boxxer. I think i dont really care for any RS product either. I dont like the totem and I hated my vivid.
If you rode the Boxxer once, how do you know its easy to service?

Assuming you get them both out of the box with no issues AND look past your front wheel they are both awsome forks. I have a 2010 Boxxer wc and love it but I keep seeing Fox at the races(East Coast) rebuilding forks/shocks(sometimes for nothing) and that is a huge perk to buying a 40.

I should have said twice, once with the factory build with hardly any oil in it and once after I rebuilt it. I figured I would leave the sh*tastic first ride, first impression out; as no oil, loads of stiction, and not using all of the travel wasn't really me riding a 2010 boxxer team, that experience was closer to getting scraped while getting head.

What is with the pluralizing? Its a fox 40, not a fox 40's. Someone actually wrote teams. Iv never heard of a boxxers teams. lol. I know this subject has been beaten into the ground, but this is out of control.

fox 40's --> this is not in plural form. adding an 's to a noun makes it into a possesive form. like your girlfriend's a**. get it?

Layman's terms. I can appreciate that.

As for Fox versus Rock Shox, I'd go with the 40 since Rock Shox banned me years back. I twisted the lowers at Mt. Snow on a brand new '05 without wrecking it...the first day. They refused to say it was defective and warranty the lowers. Made me pay $150.

A month later, they announced a new chassis with revamped lowers. I sent a very polite letter saying they proved my lowers were defective and I'd like my money back for the lowers....hence I was banned:thumb:
(Yes...I'm still very bitter.)
