So, I just got a brand new banshee legend mkII with the 2011 blue color scheme. I had a red rear DT hub that didnt really go with the frame color. Since Im running short on money for a new color maching hub, I decided to go the cheaper way and it turned out even better!

First step, start removing the paint with some fancy chemicals!

Step two, make sure the hub is clean of paint or grease and give it a light polish to make sure its nice and even.

Step three, mask it with duck tape and start applying the first coat of paint.
Give it three thin coats, make sure its even, then apply two or three layers of clear coat barnish and let it heal for at least 24 hours. Apply each layer every ten minutes from the first layer.

Step four, Remove duct take

Step five, Pimp it out

Step six, enjoy the final product!

The pictures were taken with my cel phone. Total time consumed : 5 hours more less. Total cost, not more than 30 bucks. Things used, universal paint remover, blue metalic chrome spray paint, clear coat barnish spray and a tooth brush to remove the melted paint from applying the paint remover. Hope it helps someone else!:thumb:

Im confident it will hold pretty well. The blue paint is for car parts and metallic surfaces, should be good. I'll build the wheel up soon and give it a go this weekend.

I covered them with duct tape. I actually had to paint it twice. The first time around I had it hanging from a bolt in the rotor bolt holes, unfortunaly the paint came out un even and with way to much barnsih (it actually felt a lot heavier!), so I removed the paint again and started over. Instead of hanging it from the bolt, I pased the wire threw the axle to hold it up in the air, allowing me to rotate it easily enough to spray paint it evenly, worked like a charm. I also applyed less paint on the second time and the color came out a bit more clear, much to my liking, it ended up being the same as the frame!

Great job. Im suprised the color is the same as the frame. I was just thinking about repainting some of my bike stuff. My ht looks like a damn rainbow by now and Im not really willing to spend any money on it. Though I will probably send the frame to a friend of mine just because Im to lazy to remove paint from it. Smaller parts, that is a different story.

Its going to be really usefull in the comming days. That im sure. Thanks

Nice job man! My only concern would be how the spoke will rub against the hub. If the paint doesn’t crack then you are good. :thumb:

okay, I decided I would build the rear wheel myself as opposed to having someone at a shop do it for me. After watching a youtube tutorial, it took me about an hour and the thing is done! Looks amazing, couldnt be any more stocked! Im changing the front wheel as well!

You can see the color of the hub versus the color on the frame are the same

And here she is, built up! Cant wait for the front wheel!

they kept the same colors as last year and added the blue/chrome plus a full raw frame which looks amazing
I thought they changed colors, not added some. Does this mean that come this year we have 5 legend colors?

Looks really good. Iv e used that paint before. I painted my road racing helmet with a few different colors of that paint. It should hold up well other than where the spokes come in direct contact. It will most likely rub off there but shouldnt be noticeable. Just be careful when assembling :)
