those might also be counties with larger percentages of young voters who aren't stuck in the mindset that one puff from a joint will send you straight to an alley to snort lines off a hooker

Likley a combination of both. Pot smokers for one, but also people who understand that a massive amount of taxes can be had from selling it legally, crime will drop from drug terrain wars, and a vasy majority of minor drug offenses that led to jail time will be nill, which in turn will reduce prison costs notably. But that's just my pov... I voted for it, and I think stoners are idiots and f'in useless to society.

Like the finance sector!
Until the business you work for needs credit to build a new facility, or take out a loan to grow. People hate it, until they need it. But surely you already thought about the extent to which our country's businesses rely on credit.

I think what he meant is that he hates the portion of the finance sector that likes to play by its own rules in order to line their own pockets moreso than they want to help their customers.

and sorry I didn't get around to calling you last night. I wound up having to handle a bunch of stuff for work.

Not touching that. That group is MUCH smaller than the entire financial industry, which a lot of people dont understand, unfortunately.

Not unlike pot!

I just got done saying the same thing to a friend in Cali. He said it was poorly written and while I agree, what other revenue sources is California sitting on? If it was so poorly written, why didn't someone with some legal/business sense contribute to it? The guy behind prop 215 voted no because it conflicted. Why wasn't he contributing so that it didn't?

Stoners aren't the only ones who sucked on this one.

well he kinda makes a point. Everyone associates that stereotype with pot users. Most people (non-users) would be simply astounded if they knew which individuals they interact with on a daily basis are users, but simply choose not to advertise it.

There is a difference between being a stoner and a casual smoker. And we should all know the difference.

Does anyone? I've been in it a lot longer than you have and there are still things I uncover that astound me. ;)

Back to the topic, the main thing for me was the reduction in usless incarcerations.

When is the last time you encountered a rowdey smoker? When is the last time a smoker jumped some little old lady for her fake pearl earings so he could buy some. When is the last time one toked up and then proceeded to beat his wife senseless in front of their kids?

As you have stone, I've seen some NASTY sheet from living in the Mission for 7 years. Hoes fighting over rocks. Dudes passed out with needles in their arms. Some Junky wiht a scar on his arm that he uses as part of his SCAM to get $$ (he puts ketchup on it and pretends it is fresh and asks for Cab fare to the hospital)

Well thats a little insulting. I also spend some time in the lounge and the "what I'm drinking now" thread. What else are we gonna talk about? Mountain Bikes? :monkey:
Not meant to be. I just find that most of my reps are given to the few people in the P&WN forum, so occasionally I have to wander around the Lounge rep'ping people just so I can -rep desmondo again.

In these parts EVERY law enforcement person I know and the ones I know, know, will tell you they will take a smoker over ANYONE when it comes to possible criminal interaction. A pothead might try to make it out of 7-11 with a bag of Jerky, but he won't pull a gun on the clerk and take the cash to support his habit.

But the sad part is ALL of them will speak publicly against it. They have to. They can't publicly support it without a backlash because "drugs are bad, mmkay".

If it were legal and enforced like alcohol, it would make the job of law enforcement just a little easier.

Mmmmm.... Jerkey.
Although I think that the packs of Lorna-Dunes (shortbread cookies) are probably a little more popular.

My son got busted trying to swipe jerky because he thought it would be funny until he got caught and got a record for it. I would have went for the Funyuns, but that's how I roll.

What kind of stoner idiot lives in California and doesn't already have a medical card?
Lazy ones.

Why did Humboldt and Mendocino vote no on 19?

Answer why the breadbasket of the marijuana world failed to legalize pot, and then you will have a winning prop in 2012.

If I were growing pot two things I would want to avoid are:

1) Gov't (especially one as inept and regulation heavy as CA) having a hand in my business
2) poking the Feds/DEA with a stick

They didn't want to lose the cult status of being in "the triangle". There was a report about it and the majority of folks in that area wanted to keep things as they are and not a free for all.

the History Channel just had a great 2-hour show about herb (re-airs on Saturday), and the growers they interviewed from those counties said they were afraid marijuana would be grown in Cali's central valley where all the other crops are grown and take away from their "napa valley of pot." it would obviously be a huge negative impact on the 3 counties that have widespread growing.
