hey guys. im getting a sick deal on a brand new 2011 demo 8 frame. I've heard things about demos running big, so I was looking for some input. I'm 6' 3", and normally i would think a large would fit me well, but im not sure if it's meant for someone super tall.

any help would be great. thanks

If it's any help at all, I'm 6'3 and am waiting for a Large 2011 Demo. Had a spin on a 2010 one quickly and after looking at top tube lengths having been on Large Glory's for a while then it's a firm choice for me.

I'm 6'1" and getting a large. Demos do run big; but they wheel base has actually decreased over the last few years while the chain stay has been the same. So the reach from your bottom bracket to bars has actually gone down.

I rode a medium 2009 and a large 2008. The large felt much better, the medium felt like my chest was to far over the handle bars when in attack position.

Ghet duh large bro!

While generally that would be true, the head tube got shorter which shrank the wheelbase. This is direct from Brandon Sloan the gravity product manager at Spec. The reach is the same as the 2010 model.

Still, at 6'3" I think a medium would feel very cramped

That's a good point, it would change WB but not reach. Companies should start putting out BB to head tube, taken by projecting the distance along the ground.

Top tube varies not just by horizontal vs actual but by measurements that go to seat tubes, that if extended would end in front of the BB. Because this varies top tube measurement seems useless. So I've been using WB - chainstay. But I suppose HA and heat tube measurements can change WB without changing BB to handle bar distance.
