Courses can be found on our event website as well as lots of other information. Here is a link to that page:
http://www.downhillmike.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=118&Itemid=184
Please note these courses are not definite. We will be open to suggestions but we like to have the finish lines near the restrooms for efficient shuttles. We can actually have a shuttle depart every 10 minutes or less. With the crowd we had last time this will be necessary.

If you are taking suggestions, how about armageddon to reaper. that has always proved to be a great race.

I am on the east coast now. Once we get out there we will assess things and make sure the courses we choose are in tip top shape.

I do like the idea of the same course for all. It's nice when the category 3 and 2 can compare their times to the cat 1 and pros.

As usual we will have an open chainless race after the main event. Oh, and a pro seeding run for the downhill.

I second Arm to Reaper. Snakeback to the bathrooms doesn't do a State Championship justice. I would like to suggest Arm to Reaper for begginer/expert and Arm/OnaLee/LwrGinger/LoveCanal for Open/Pro. Make it tough!!:thumb:

The current course will be won or lost in that little off-camber section with the tiny climb before you head down into that small rock drop-off.

With our online registration opening on Monday November 15 we have been working with our timers (CJ Sports Timing) to make sure all is 100% ready. They really showed us how to simplify the registration for the racer and make our packet pick be super efficient.

Your only choices on registration now will be:
Pro, Category 1, 2 or 3

CJ Sports Timing will then place you in the correct age and gender bracket. Simple. With your racing age (USAC RULES) being 1 year older in many cases for such an early race in season, this will really help!

A USA Cycling State/Regional Championship Event has these categories that you will be placed in:
Male pro................................. Female Pro
Category 1 Male 19-29.............. Category 1 Female 19-29
Category 1 Male 30-39 ............. Category 1 Female 30-39
Category 1 Male 40-49 ..............Category 1 Female 40+
Category 1 Male 50+

Category 2 Male 19-29.............. Category 2 Female 19-29
Category 2 Male 30-39.............. Category 2 Female 30-39
Category 2 Male 40+................. Category 2 Female 40+

Category 3 Male 19-29............... Category 3 Female 19-29
Category 3 Male 30-39............... Category 3 Female 30+
Category 3 Male 40+

Junior Male 14 & Under................. Junior Female Under 14
Junior Male Category 1/ 15-16....... Junior Female Category 1/15-18
Junior Male Category 1/ 17-18....... Junior Female Category 2/ 15-18
Junior Male Category 2/ 15-16....... Junior Female Category 3/ 15-18
Junior Male Category 2/ 17-18
Junior Male Category 3/ 15-16
Junior Male Category 3/ 17-18

Thanks Cath & John from CJ Sports Timing

I understand the concern about shuttling efficiency but please consider this suggestion. Give us a proper track.

We are considering all options on race courses. Thanks! I also keep remembering Brent Thompson telling me 2 years ago how much better the visuals are with that lower finish.

Can we set up the race village around that finish line? It worked well in the past with the registration, shuttle pick up, vendors, announcer and finish line all in the same area (race village).

Plenty of time to figure it out still. We want the best courses, the fastest shuttles and racers and the spectators to have the most fun ever @ Bootleg!

12-15-10 Update:

Go-Ride.com & BC Bicycles will be providing 100 free event t-shirts to the 1st 100 racers that pre register.

Black Rock Bicycles is donating a very cool womens cruiser from Phat Cycles valued at $350.00. Each registrant will receive 1 raffle ticket for each race they enter for a chance to win this bike. Raffle will be held on Sunday during the awards ceremony.

The Whiteface Mountain Bike Park will supply the beer for Friday nights party.

I will continue to add updates as things get finalized. Basically, for the next 2 months we try to see how much more value we can add for the racer. We will be contacting the local hotels soon, and see what kind of deals we can get. 2 years ago we were able to secure rooms for racers for $29.00 per night!

See ya at the race

Thanks Mike! Looking to make it down from Seattle for this race and wondering if you have had any luck securing hotel support?

Plan is to fly down, so also trying to decide if it's necessary to get a rental car. Any thoughts on more cost-effective transportation?

I once found a monkey who lived in Las Vegas. He offered to give me a ride to the canyon, I camped in the parking lot, and rode my bike or bumped rides to town. It was cheap.

The hotel deals won't be known till after January 1st. I would have your bike shipped to 1 of the 2 local bikes shops in Boulder City. Then take a free shuttle at the airport to anyone of the major hotels on the strip. There must be buses that go from the strip to Boulder City. I will find the local bus schedule and post that info here.

Wow and thanks to all that pre registered today!
For those that pre registered both mandatory waivers (USAC & Boulder City Parks Dept.) will be on our website after the 1st of January. Please print out both waivers to breeze through packet pick up. Also, if you have a USAC license please bring it. If you just purchased your USAC license and are still waiting for it, bring your proof of purchase. For the 1 day licenses we will have those for sale at the event.

For those of you that are not camping and still need a room check out these rates.

Hacienda: $19.99 week days and $29.99 weekends. They told me they could not guarantee these rates through the event, but if booked now will honor them.

Railroad Pass: $29.00 week days and $49.00 weekends.

Here is the link from the event website for all hotels and their contact info:

And yes there are still a few t-shirts left for those that pre register.

Actually I was told that promo vehicle must be towed to the event due to a bad transmission. The shuttle vehicles may be towing the Rover?
Tons of electronics in the Rover so it will act as media headquarters. Instant results at the finish line and online! I can picture the hot seat on top of the Rover too!

I think we already have 3 times the amount of sponsors as we did two years ago at the Mob. This event is shaping up kind of big time!

1-17-11 Update:
The downhill course will be Snakeback to Race Village near the restrooms.
The Super D course is still undecided.
What do you think about Skyline or Boyscout to East Leg for the sd course?

For those of you that wanted Poop Chute to Lower Ginger that will happen, but not at a Presidents Weekend race. Just too many racers for all to get a decent amount of practice runs in. I worked as a shuttle driver for All Mountain Cyclery 3 years ago using that finish. That race only had 160 downhillers. With over 300 racers that finish just doesn't work. You'd be spending a lot of time waiting for the shuttles. Example: Each shuttle would take approx. 40 to 45 minutes round trip instead of 20 to 25 minutes.

Race Village will truly be a race Village!
We are hoping to make 1 more announcement very soon that would be so cool! Just waiting for this event enhancement to be finalized.

See ya at the race!

There are 3 ways off the top of the parking lot- the one to the immediate left has some tech that would be cool for the SD. Where is the finish? I'd say since this is a gravity race to make the SD as tech as possible, I doubt there will be a lot of XC people there like at a Mtn States cup where there is an XC race the same weekend.

edit- found a map- Skyline to Eastleg is my favorite backside way down. Yeah!!!!!

Would West leg be too much? I think it's longer and would require more pedaling but then it's rockier at the end. Maybe that would wreck the last bit for uphill use.

Eastleg would take you to the same finish as the DH, that would make sense.

Krispy,
Skyline to E. Leg would be cool & tech. Since previous courses that went down Skyline to Girlscout were just under 10 minutes for the fastest, this course will surely add a few minutes (at least).

W. Leg would not be too much and cool to. You would just have to drop down to Girlscout before going "over the saddle".

Remember we our having an Open Chainless dh race right after the main dh race for only $10.00. Maybe we can crown the Nevada State Chainless DH Champ too? It won't get you to the Nationals, but would be an honor.
