Never heard of Fezzari, however... The bike you are looking at there is an older 4-bar design (similar to what Kona uses). It's pretty squishy for peddling and you will have plenty of brake jack.

The SC is a single pivot - not going to help much for the brake jack, but it's going to be much better in terms of "not bobbing" when you pedal. It's also going to be much better for servicing (fewer pivots).

I've never ridden either, but, I had a Kona with very similar suspension to the Fezzari and I have a SC Butcher right now (modified single pivot). The SC rides much better than the Kona did - suspension is solid and doesn't squat when you climb. I'd go for the SC out of those two bikes.

Thanks for the advise! There are allot of bikes in this price range but I think I have decided on the Heckler.

The Heckler is a sweet bike- a great design that has been updated well over the last few years. I would go for that over the Fezzari if for no other reason than it's a pretty guaranteed good bike and you can go to a local dealer to resolve issues.

Just one thing, though: the four bar on the Fezzari (and Kona) is still a single pivot in the sense that the axle path is the same as a single pivot. They will ride differently than other frames, of course, but it's still a linkage-driven single pivot, same as the Santa Cruz ABP bikes.

I have a Fezzari (Cascade) and have ridden it for about 3 years now. The SC is a great bike but I have no significant time on one so I can't comment on similarities or differences but I really love my Cascade. I am not the easiest on bikes and this thing has held up great. It is true that it is a single pivot with 4 bar actuation of the shock but there is no pedal feedback that I can feel. The pivot is pretty well aligned on the middle chainring so any feedback is minimal. The big sealed bearing pivots are as smooth today as new three years ago.

Fezzari is a local company for me (Orem Utah) so I don't have any issues with wondering if they are some faceless mail order shop. They back up their stuff so I wouldn't worry about that.

My previous bikes were an Intense Tracer (pre VPP) and then a Santa Cruz Nomad. I liked both of those bikes but the Tracer was too tall and the Nomad felt squishy when pedaling. The Fezzari is just a really nice riding bike up and downhill.

Anyway, my $.02.
