Forget about the MTV/ Jackass/ Dickhouse association. This is a ****ed up documentary. The preview makes it look like a typical over-the-top **** you'd expect from Knoxville and Margera.

Ha! I love that people are just now starting to catch onto Jessco White. We wore out the original VHS copy back in the early 90's showing it over and over to friends and family. Back then, it was just a documentary shown on public broadcast that someone recorded one night then passed around. I can't tell you the comedic gold that in that original piece. From the sloppy, slarmy eggs bit that jekyll posted to "They call me the miracle worker" "I's a huffin' gasoline out of a sock" to "I killed 42 squirrel's with this gun.'' All of it awesome....

I guess you just have to be from this general area to "get it"...I dunno, but the subsequent videos after that....they have their moments, but nothing tops the original.

I can't tell you the number of times that we've used phrases from Jessco in our family gatherings. It really puts the fun back in dysfunctional.

Word. When we moved to New England I passed around a copy of the Dancing Outlaw to some of my coworkers as a tongue-in-cheek "this is where I'm from". I grew up about an hour away from there, but close to the big city.

I used to go to High School with Northern Mississippi's version of that family.

Rebels? This looks more like addicts living in the backwoods with guns.

I can't wait to see this! Also growing up about an hour from there; I find it a freaking hilarious in a sad, sad way.
No, no, man....it's not sad at all. Those folks are happy....check it out. It's all good. They're in their own world, and you're just getting a glimpse of it, that's all. They're stoked to be who they are and let it all hang out.

First time the director came in contact with the White's, it was Jessie's sister--at a bar--and she was tripping on acid. He got a kick out of her, and she told him if he thought she was something, then he ought to meet her brother, Jessie. That's how the ball got rolling on that one.

You can't make this kind of stuff up. :thumb:

Yeah, I know. That's why I find it hilarious!

The reason I say it's sad, is because I grew up so close to that immense amount of poverty. I've been to their elementary school to read to the kids that live there. I've seen more than just a glimpse.

But, like I said; when it comes down to it, I am freaking so excited for this movie!! :thumb:

For some reason in my english 101 class we watched some of the original documentary... this same teacher told a dead baby joke to whole class. Guess that's what community college is good for haha.

Oh and I just found this from the local news and thought it was funny:

EDIT: anyone know where I can watch the original online? I have to show it to my girlfriend.
