i miss my brothers corrado...
I actually don't mind the pssst of the blow-off valve on a non-boxer motor. I think it's the combo of the 2.

This sounds great IMO.

Of course he drives like a jackass, but it still sounds sweet.

BOV is the sign of an idiot. The amount of pressure buildup on the Subaru engine to force you to NEED a BOV is way beyond what you can get with even a heavily tuned STI, let alone a WRX. I am getting ~300whp out of my Forester, and still have the STI BOV.

1997 Outback wagon. 173K. No rattles. Has new head gaskets, though.
Huh, looks like this turned into a Subie rant...I've got an '00 Outback Wagon, yup it's got the new headgaskets (did them myself) and more recently gave the suspension a 1.5" lift with some '06 Baja coils and KYB shocks (for better stance towing the boat down to the Bay).
It has 210K and still drives pretty much like when it had 30k. It will be around for at least another 100k before the next big expense (my guess, rings and re-build bottom end, not to mention dealing with body rust - damn New England winters)

No rust. I'd like to get another 50-75K out of this one...

Can't say I'm a fan of the new sedan. I'd take a 5-door any day though! The only problem is every bro and his... brother... owns an STi around these parts.

Ended up finding an amazing deal on a MKIV R32 and couldn't be happier! AWD goodness, VR6 sound , and minimal Subie-douchiness that is so common around here.

Subaru is dead for me. Happened after they decided their sport car co project with toyota will be 2wd because it wouldnt be cost competitive with their partner brand... Also boxxer diesel. Tried it... Seriously?

i think a $25k rwd Scion will be pretty fun to drive actually, but purportedly Subbi's awd version is still possibly in the works.

and yes, the boxer diesel is poop. worst engine design to make into a diesel.

The whole idea was absurd anyway? Diesel and boxxer are like water and fire. What were they thinking?

I have in my 06. If you can change the oil in your car, you can change the tranny oil. It's really easy, although if you do the drain and fill method like I did, you have to do it about 4 times to get close to 100% fresh fluid.

IF the diesel Forester was available in the US when we bought wife's 2010 Forester XT, we would have gotten it. Mileage + toqure = the win.

Beat me to it. Subaru's stock compressor bypass is pretty efficient. BOV on those cars is just for attention and to let everyone else know that you probably don't know much about tuning your Subaru.

no diesels for America, so you Euros get to enjoy it.:)
I really like a proper normal diesel for a normal car. Ie. some of the stuff VW or Audi make. Good mileage so they work very well for bike trips to venues but who buys a subaru for that reason?
Also subaru make some lower Horse Power petrol engines and well they suck even more.

Joker - have you driven it? On paper maybe it looks good but the one I drove (I agree It wasnt mine, no idea what happened to it before etc.) felt really weird. It wasn't eager to accelerate.

Would you, by any chance, be living in a certain Colorado city where the number of Subies per capita is higher than the one at the actual Subaru factory??
