Had to give the 2011 Fox 36RC2 180 mm kashima coated bad boy fork a try.... 1st impressions aside of needing to put the heavy spring in is WOW..... for a non custom tuned fork im completely floored at its performance........ this is not the fox forks i had in the past...... GOOD JOB FOX!!!! .. as of right now its probably the badest fork (single crown) out of the box.....

It has a mid speed platform or spot that gets stiffer not alot but enough that it acts like a mid speed valve. It pushes through it just fine and tracks very well its a little flexy but the bushing overlap keeps it solid feeling compared to a 36 I ran a bit last year. The fork feels very plush and doesn't feel dry like past fox forks.
It flexes but tracks and doesn't feel as stiff as the 66, or totem but mows over small bumps and I did bottom it hard tonight but I ran the medium spring and had the comp wide open trying different settings.
adjustment range is very broad and they do make a difference on each click.

As usuall needed to give it a shot and im glad I did, I will be hammering it for the next month or so to really run it through its paces and then to craig... this is a VERY VERY VERY SOLID FORK......

And a sidewalk off to left of tennis courts to drop to flat and adjust the compression... Flat landing didnt bottom, close but seems dialed.... Now its off to the stair gaps to flat bottom...

Interesting... :)
Do you think Float version would be as good as VAN?
And the tricky question ;> If the price were very good, would you take it instead of tuning my 2010 Totem Solo Air with AVA cart? ;)

Id stay spring on a 36 and between it and a totem with a avalanche cart... id go the totem/avy all the way. This is just because I was curious and wanted to get my own time on one.... as soon as im done its going to craig at avalanche

I've got the 36 Talas 160 RLC Kashima on my Enduro and it is sweet! I had an 06 Talas before and the latest is so much better. It tracks better with the tapered steerer, very stiff. The stiction is very low and the resulting bump sensitivity is impressive. The fork ramps up nicely at the end of the travel too. I think this is the best feeling air fork I've ever ridden.

Just raced the 36 at fontucky.... held lines great absolutely amazing. Heavy spring in and a bit of slow speed added to avoid dive 5 clicks preload to sit higher and WHAM! SPOT ON.....

Its off to avalanche in a couple weeks I want some real comparison time on it.... I want to make sure im first hand experienced and tuned it so I have a solid understanding.... the fork rocks.....

What class do you race and how did you place?

It's nice to have an idea of how someone rides when you read their reviews of a product.

I spent most of the season on the Kashima coated Van version and I was very impressed. First generation fork, breaking into a new market, new technology, no worries apparently for fox.

I wrote a review right here on the product, some action shots in there too if you're into that kind of thing :thumb:

Some nice shots and a nice review... actually one of the reasons I wanted to try one. I have some race pics from this last weekend and will have a few more from the local line....

Nice review the durability is my only concern with it feeling this good for a stock fork it makes me worry there's a sacrafice somewhere. Lol.... either way it is an amazing fork and your review was pretty spot on. :thumb:

threw a couple of action pics up... Ill get some of the freeride and jump line later next week....

Wanted to add the fork stayed glued to the ground on the course I went to hop a huge rain rut from a inside line and actually questioned if the fork ever left the ground or skimmed the tips of the rut.... No issues. Did the stairs today and it landed the overshoot perfect as well as all the little square edge hits are smooth... It has great small bump...... Drops aren't big to flat more for shots to look for flex and see if its raking out like my 2009 boxxer did... None so far Im impressed with this fork....

Maintenance is my only concern..... No issues yet but Im curious to see what develops.....
