Nothing is wrong when you buy it on iTunes, I just did. I think the suggestion was that Follow Me wasn't up to par (different strokes...), not anything to do with Life Cycles or the iTunes version...

Anyway, I'm stoked! Love the movie and congrats to Derek and Ryan for seeing this through to the end and producing a great film.

So skip Follow me for a Xmas gift?
Follow Me was pretty awful, especially compared to previous collective releases.

Lifecycles blows every outdoor action sports movie out of the water by a factor of twelve. Go buy it from iTunes in HD and bring a clean pair of underpants. Showed it to a bunch of non-riding friends last night and they were appropriately awed.

It is truly impressive.. one of the few MTB films(yes I said films) you can show to just about anybody and they would appreciate.

Maybe I need to watch it again, but I didn't like Life cycles all that much as a riding movie. I thought it was more of a biking movie that could be enjoyed by non-bikers. Don't get me wrong, the cinematography was amazing but if I'm ever looking for a movie to get me pumped for riding that would probably be last on the list.

It was like 3 weeks ago when I saw the movie and I had a few beers in me so maybe I need a sober rewatch.

Yeah the riding is good, but it almost takes a backseat to the cinematography. Def. a treat for the senses, I've yet to watch it on my home theater setup, waiting for the BD to arrive. I have to agree w/everyone on the quality of iTunes HD on this is, it's much better than Follow Me.. best looking video I've seen on my iPad.

Watched Roam the other day on the stationery trainer for the first winter spin. That movie will make you pedal your arse off. The segment with Peaty pedaling like he's on fire and then Romaniuk's section. The Whistler pedaling with Rennie, Morland, etc.

i think it is because it is cheaper to upload and sell a "tv show" than it is a movie.

i of course, can be wrong
Possible, or could be length. Most "movies" are 1.5hrs+. Our bike porn will be lucky to reach an hour, and I believe LifeCycles was about 45 min. The older Earthed movies and Clay Porter films were the longest I've seen so far.

Life Cycles didn't get me so stoked that I wanted to go shred apart a mountain. It more got me pumped on being involved in such a sick sport and made me feel lucky that I get to ride. So, essentially, it got me pumped to go on A ride, whatever kind of riding that was.

theres a $220+ difference b/w uploading a 60min and 90min video to itunes to sell

The problem with buying from itunes is you don't get all the extra film that comes in the special features.

I bought the FollowMe for that reason, then come to find out, it didn't have jack squat on it for special features. Honestly, I think the riding in that film was top notch as was the filming and soundtrack in some parts. The film as a whole, to me, was a complete let down. That being said, I think the end scene with Stevie and Gee got my heart racing and begging for more.

If some of you are disappointed with Follow me, make sure you don't download "Here we go again." I made that mistake last night.
Yeah, glad I didn't buy it, let my friend make that mistake.. pretty horrific..
I went to the "Follow Me" premiere in a double deck theater at Sea Otter with 1000 people in it. The next night I went to "Here we go again" premiere with about 50 people standing and sitting on the ground... guess which was better.

I wish somehow they'd been able to communicate Life Cycles would be available on iTunes some how, in particular after they were having the media problems. I bought the Blue Ray version, thinking it would be great, but also thinking it was the way to get the HD version, only to have it not arrive (maybe the Blue Ray ships later?).

I will still buy the iTunes version tonight because I want to see the movie and will happily continue to support these guys.

Just kind of sucks how it all worked out.

Yea, I really hate to be a hater but 15 mins in HWGA I was trying to figure out if iTunes gives refunds. I'd say 50% of the reason I bought it was because Sik Mik was featured, but even his segment was sub par. That movie makes Follow Me look like goddamn Citizen Kane.

Ya'll are crazy...stevie smith throwing flips and three's? Gee and steve in NZ? "brad's house" absolutely massive hits? I thought follow me was pretty sick.

I liked Life Cycles a lot as well. Probably the best shooting and editing of a bike movie I've seen, but I felt there was too much slo-mo and some of the riding was a bit dated.

Funny you say that, I canceled my order 2 weeks ago or so. Got my money back, I was kinda mad that they or pinkbike didnt send emails to everyone who pre-ordered the DVD. Granted they posted stuff once in a while on their website but I dont want to check PB's childness website everyday for an update on a movie I paid 32 bucks for. Glad I got my money back and bought the movie for 8 bucks on iTunes. But with that said hats off to them for a great film.

I still dont understand why they wont get it to the euro itunes. I will see it anyway when my friend gets his dvd but a lot of ppl don't want to wait here and I'm pretty sure will hop on the first pirate version they can find. I understand not all of them would be glad to pay 8$ for the movie but some of them for sure.

Just finished watching it, and I won't say I was blown away. But it was still awesome.

If you want flashy riding, get follow me.
If you want flashy filming, get life cycles.
If you love bikes, get both.

So if I buy it it on Itunes can I burn it and watch it on my tv?

Sorry for the dumb question. I've only ever bought music on Itunes.

Not directly. You need to get some software to do it, which is available free online. I've never taken the time to do it myself, but people say it's easy. I don't know if you lose video quality by doing that. Search google for it, I'm sure there are walk thru's

As a whole, Follow Me was a cluster. No flow at all. It was like watching a bunch of mashed together YouTube clips. A couple were good, but a lot were serious snoozers. The movie only seemed to come into its own in the last ten minutes, and then it abruptly ended. It felt very half-baked and I was pretty letdown by it.

Lifecycles is more of what I'd like to see in bike films. A very distinct flow, less emphasis on the gear and individual riders, more on what makes riding bikes rad. Earthed and Clay Porter can stick around to get your race stoke on, but Lifecycles has far broader and more in-depth appeal, even broader than the original Collective series. I like the lifestyle approach to a bike film far more than the "brobrahbro" repetitive huck-huck-shred nature of most MTB movies. It's a lot more engaging, interesting, and stimulating beyond a simple adrenaline rush; and coinciding with the broader appeal - it can get a lot more people who don't ride now interested in riding, something that benefits all of us.

Alright, how do they do those fall/summer scenes? Pretty freakin cool!
They show it in the Bonus section. They built semi-permanent camera mounts in the woods and went back and shot during each season. So that section alone literally took a year to make. :thumb:
