Better, actual grahead hosts required...

Adam Carolla, Dax Sheppard, Christopher Titus. There's 3 guys that love cars, that are all reasonably funny and would work hard to make a show like this live up to it's potential. Keep tanner but put him in a white suit on him and call him the Stig.

Show fixed.
Carolla would be great since he is a gear head, is funny and is great on camera. Titus wouldnt be a improvement IMO. the reviews say by the 3rd episode the hosts chemistry gets better...which shouldnt be hard since they all seem out of place.

That's why I listed him first... here's why I'd choose the 3 of these guys... they are all nuts about cars... and they are all friends, so there would already be chemistry. Titus and Carolla would get super competitive and Dax would just be another gearhead.

They also all have different types of tastes in cars... Carolla likes euro cars, Titus likes hotrods and American muscle, and dac is into bikes... just like Hammond(s).

I cant think of 3 beter guys to do it... maybe Leno, and then they'd never have a problem getting their hands on any car ever.

Carolla gave Autoblog.com a interview when they thought it was going to be him on the show. there is a lost pilot somewhere out there that has him as one of the hosts.
Titus is a big gearhead for sure and has some amazing cars, but i think he tries too hard to be funny. he did a bunch of "Rides" shows and it was painful watching him IMO.

i think Leno would be a horribly bad fit. he's not funny on his own tv show, i doubt hed be funny on a car show. his "Leno Garage" segments are about all i can take of him.

Only reason Carolla didn't get the nod on the new show is because he had to turn it down. He had another pilot in the works for a sitcom when History decided to take Topgear. The sitcom wasn't picked up so A.C. got a serving of wrong place/wrong time.

Were you wondering what the Top Gear crew were doing in Israel when they were spotted there last month? Well wonder no more.

Reports from the British Isles are now stating that the tour across the Middle East was actually shot for a Christmas Special in which Clarkson, Hammond and May retrace the steps of the Three Wise Men who, according to Christian lore, visited the Virgin Mary and the Baby Jesus in the manger in Bethlehem. Only while the trio of yore did it on camel-back, two millennia later, the team of British auto journos – who may have picked up as many followers today as the Nazarene messiah did in his – rode in across Turkey and Syria in three old roadsters.

Looks like it's going to be a Merry Christmas after all, Charlie Brown.

ive given Top Gear US a chance the past few episodes...but this past episode...so bad.

the news section was painful to watch.

the episode with the blind guy drifting was pretty cool though.

Yeah, there was some video on their FB page about them finding a new Stig. It's another white one apparently.

Watched a couple of TG USA episodes. Meh. Not great, not appalling like I thought it would be.

The Middle East special is pretty good. Probably the worst of the foreign cheap car challenges so far, but still solid. And    at the ending.

The last episode was a bit more boring that usual. I hope its not a trend as the special was also a bit worse. Still good but I was expecting more.

Personally i hate to see them waste a beetle like that, could have given it away to a guy and possibly seen it on barrett jackson, shoulda wasted a POS civic, wont matter falling out of a plane.

You have to remember, the Top Gear guys HATE the Beetle.
Watch the Botswana Special - their penalty for breaking down was to drive a VW Bug.

Kind of funny though, they admitted that the Beetle was the only car that made it without breaking down.

Why do they hate diesel so much?
Rev range. Diesels are great for 90% of people that never have the RPMs above 4k. They are torquey, reliable, and fairly simple. But the hosts are "Petrol Heads" they want to rev the living sh!t out of a car till a rod shoots through the oil pan. Anyone that has ever driven on a proper track knows the importance of having a good rev range. Down shifting into corners, RPM matching, heel-toe are all much easier to do with a larger rev range. The new Audi v12 TDI might change their minds though...

My complaint with it (from a TOTAL armchair engineering standpoint obviously) is basically in line with what JC says about it. It seems too much like a spectacular piece of engineering and not enough a drivers car. Its emphasis is more on going as fast as they can possibly make it and not so much on making it fun if that makes sense. Too much electronics making it drive itself so you don't get to do it because you suck and doing things that way is faster. Cool, but not what I think I'd want if I were fvcking loaded and wanting to buy a car that costs as much as a nice house most places.
