Hi,
I have a manitou revox that I would like to remove the spring from. HOWEVER, someone put a spring that is too large on it, so that when I back the preload all the way back, it is still to tight to slide that little locking ring off. IDEAS?? Thnks

compress the spring and put a bunch of zipties around it (from a coil near the top to one at the bottom) so it essentially will stay compressed and will allow you to get the collar off.

Remember to screw the reboung adjuster all the way in, before You will compress it with some clamps or whatever.

If the above fails, take it to a motorcycle shop they have spring clamps that fit bike shocks, charged me 8 bucks mine was super tight! took 5 mins.
THIS^. My blazer has a spring in the door for opening/closing. Bought the little spring clamp and was a piece of cake to re-install. Would pay for a bike shop to have one these days.

I have that door spring tool.... its a really nice tool to have.

Would be nice to see something like this specifically for bikes.... but for the most part its just the Manitou springs that have this issue.

a good/safe way to release the spring from the zip ties would be to put it in a large vice, compress it more to release the zip ties, then back it off with the screw. a cooler way would be to attach some projectile to one end, attach the other end to an immovable object then cut the zip tie with some dikes.
