a pet peeve of mine has always been to have a quiet running bike. with a few pieces of velcro, the bike was damn near silent. ive had loud bikes in the past (all my Foes frames) and some other quiet ones (Revolt) but this one seems totally silent. i know thats not a selling point for most people, but like i said, its something i hate.
I'm the same way. A quiet bike is not so much as a selling point to me as much as a loud bike would prevent me from buying. I think it was early in this thread that I asked if it was loud or not because the M1 I has was loud like the Foes and I just can't stand it. It's good to hear the M9 is quiet.

the bigger monocoque frames echo like no body's business. my '00 DHS was foam filled to help deaden the sound but it didnt help much. w
no chain slap, no knocking, no hollow noises..nothing

its was gonna happen sooner or later. it does sucks it happened first day
a lot of the mountains here in the east have lots of loose rocks, so sh1t happens.
i also nicked a weld, but theres plenty of weld material there to not worry about it
Put a downtube guard on it and save the bike. :)

plumbing hose is ugly, but gets the job done pretty well. Cut it in half lengthwise, I can pull up pictures if you're curious. I have it on my session 88, and I have no dents. Its probably a bit overkill though.

I would like to find a CF one. Also there is a company comming out with a clear film for carbon frames that looks really good. They put the film on a florescent light bulb and hit it with a hammer pretty impressive. I got to see if I can find it.

found it. What does anyone think?

That looks sweet. Id like to give it a try but my Go-Ride guard is working so well. The video with the bulb was cool, but I wonder how a sharp edged object would work instead of a hammer.

N-Style (the moto graphics co) sells clear plastic, super thick stuff too. I ran it on my downtube and chain/seatstays and it did the job. For $15 or so you get 3 or 4 large sheets. Google and call 'em up!

Damn, i felt like my small in the middle settings was a bit short! I put it in the long stay setting and it feels great. Another ride on it today (in 27f..ouch) and i am liking it more and more every ride as I get used to it. Wide bars seem to have helped a ton (had narrow ones on it). Still getting a bit wild on it when jumping coming out of a compression for some reason...i get tossed a bit off the back and front end comes up, but I'm used to a much longer top tube so that may explain it.

I'm running mine int he 9" setting now. I had it in the 9.5" setting when they shipped it to me, and It just didn't feel right. 1 change made all the difference in the world to me. Middle leverage ratio, long stays, 9" travel (middle) setting. 0 deg cup I believe in the headset.

Overall, i don't want to give Intense their bike back. :)
Hey man how tall are you?

All built and ready to go. Looks a lot better than I anticipated.

Sizing is PERFECT, I was worried it was going to be too big, but its spot on perfect. It fits right in between my old Large V10 and my Medium Sunday. Exactly where I wanted it to be.

Geometry is dialed, slack enough without being over the top (0* cups, middle G3). In fact, its lower than advertised, the unscientific tape measure test showed it at around 13.75" BB.

I just want to say a big Thank You to Intense, Marzocchi and E.13/The Hive. They really came through big for our team this year.

I built my large up last week, had about 3 rides on it, and so far im super impressed. I came off an large 08 DHR with a CCDB and besides buying a new seat post everything else was swapped on to the M9 with RC4 including ti spring. (2010 boxxer team, codes, X0, gravity lites, 823's, hadleys, minions etc)

Im not a pro racer but i do race expert class (35+) and i'm obsessed with suspension and chassis set up on my bikes. One of the main reasons i was attracted to the M9 was the adjustability.

My first ride (fontana) i started with everything set in the middle positions and with 0* cup in the headset (so 64*) Initial impressions were..... It felt long, low and super stable. It felt firmer in the rear than the DHR through rocks and pedalling but absorbed everything better, almost with a dull feeling. It also made my forks feel soft, so a few clicks of compression to balance everything out was needed. The bike seemed to hold speed better through bumps...like it wasnt slowed by hitting bumps, it absorbed them but kept forward momentum.

I rode the exact course that i had raced the weekend before (on the DHR) so it was good to get a comparison over the same obsticles.
It did seem to steer a little lazy and slow through the tight fontana course turns, so i decided to try some different headset cups. I installed the .5* cup
and steepened the head angle to 64.5*. It worked, the bike turned in easier than previously and showed no negative effect...i liked it but wondered if it could turn better still? In went the 1* cup and the head angle was now at 65*. It seemed perfect for such a tight track.

I really only tweaked the shock a little besides the headset changes and was stoked with the set up..... I was still interested in messing around with shock leverage and chain stay legth but was running out of daylight. I decided to put in a full race run (wall included) and see if i was able to get a better time than on the DHR the week before. Granted my race run the week before was at the night race so i had an advantage with a little daylight left on the M9 plus i had ridden the course more. But........... i didnt expect to be over 10 seconds faster!

It pedalled so efficiently and honestly i just felt more confident. So far I'm super stoked with the bike and am looking forward to playing around with the other adjustments next ride.

If you have one of these coming to you.... you should be pumped because like me, I'm sure you are going to go faster without even trying too!

Changed a couple things after the initial build.... Saints replaced the Gravity cranks, and i also went to a wider bar (780mm raceface Atlas), 50mm DM ODI stem and 2011 40 RC2.

After a month or so riding it, I'm stoked! Just inspires confidence and makes it easy to go faster!

How heavy are your M-9s building up?

Mine is a small and it's 41.5lbs with steel spring. It will lose a little weight when I get a Ti spring and the Avalanche cart for my boxxer but it probably will stil be around 41lbs

thats a wee bit heavy ;)
i think my large came to 40.25.

ive used both chips so far and they all snug down into place and dont move. i dont think its good that they move since it holds the shock in place.
