I had my 6th root canal today

That's right...in my short 31.5 years on this planet, I've had 6 goddamned root canals. One was a re-do of an old one that failed, so only 5 teeth are currently dead.

And to think - people in real life always tell me "I didn't realize you were a dentist" after they see my username and custom title. :rofl:

Oh, and yeah...I snapped a picture of myself mid-root canal. :eek:

I had one a few weeks ago. The part that got me was when he stuck this needle-like scraper into the tooth, rooting for the canals, pushing the damn thing in and then feeling the SCRAPE SCRAPE SCRAPE.

bastard only gave me tylenol with codeine.

I had my first root canal 3 weeks ago. Took like 4 shots of novocaine to numb me up, but other than that I didn't need any pain meds. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to me.

I had my first about a year ago and I agree it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
But my dentist said that if I would have waited a few more days it would have been a lot worse.

Also I took a ****load of ibuprofen afterwards.

Yeah they're really not any worse than getting a large filling.

I forgot to mention though that I DO brush and floss and always have. That's what sucks even worse about this situation.

Ha, you are like bizarro health man. You should eat nothing but bacon and high fructose corn syrup for a year and see if it helps. ;)

Root canals are a complete waste of money, & are only putting off the inevitable.
Rip it out, get a falsy & call it good. It doesn't really cost any more if you count the crown that they make you put over a root canal. Not to mention some good health insurances actually pay for a false tooth. Root canals are not covered & must go through the dental insurance which always means more out of pocket..

Oh, & brush those damn chicklets!
