Enough of Demo9, on to bigger stuff! Who do you think is putting in the most work for this season? Who do you think will be on the first WC podium in 2011?

Gwin? Hart? Hill? Peaty? Gee? Greg?? Blinky??

lets get the hype going!

First round being in Pietermaritzburg, RSA, I would count Minnaar up there with Gee, since it is a very pedally track.

Cam Cole could make a shocker as well, he was 6th there in '09 and was on form at the beginning of the 2010 season before his injury.

So I would pick Greg-Gee-Cam for top 3

the new track is going to be more tech and less pedaling then last year. (at least thats what the pictures make it seem like) still i say nobody will meat greg on his home pitch.

The new track looks like it loses elevation faster than the previous version, from the photos anyway... Some nerd should post up a side by side course profile graph thingy!?

With the in mind I'm going to say Sam in first, Greg second, and Gwin third. Peat and Brendan will fill in the top five.

I had to look on South Africa's urbandictionary to find out what "meat"-ing meant. I guess they throw cow carcasses at their hometown heroes down there...

with the home-field advantage, my money is on Greg.
besides, i think after losing the overall to Gee by such a narrow margin, he's hungrier than anyone this season.

I think you've got a lot of hungry riders this year:

Sam: missed most of last season. proved he was still on form at worlds.
Fabien: missed all of last season. probally the most hungry and unpredictable.
Cam Cole: Was consitantly top 10 then broke his wrist and missed the rest of the season
Steve Smith: on a roll from worlds. Is looking for more podiums
Gwin: is going to win one this year + desire to do well for the new team.
Greg:missed winning the overall by .37(?)
Blenki: right there, just needs to hold it together in a final.
Peaty: had a terrible (for him) season. proved he had the speed at Windham.
Brendan: another guy that will get a top spot at one of these races.

Should be an awesome season to watch and I can't wait for worlds at Champery

I really hope the track brings out the hunger in Mick. Would be nice to see him perform again. If not its probably Greg or Cam. Gee always does the worst on his 1st start, he even admitts it himself.

There is no way Minnaar doesn't win (double negative I know). It's not like the course is just in his home country, it's literally his backyard. I'd have a hard time betting against Gwin if they had a WC race in Temecula.

Minnaar and Peat have the most dominate Lungs on the WC circuit. Being home with no travel, acclimated to the climate, riding on dirt he grew up on....Minnaar all the way.

I'm waving. Can you see me now?
So many good names here, so I'll add one that hasn't been said: Hart.
I was thinking about him after I saw that video Finally..2. Could he be the next steve smith except better? I sort of feel like steve got a taste of some wins but never really progressed like I thought he would. On the other hand, I think Danny Hart looks fast as hell and definitely has a good chance this year. I think Giant is a good company for him but duncan riffle sucks. Duncan won't really add any value to Danny's career. In fact, he may try to turn Danny into a hipster like himself and start riding fixies.

oh boy, really? He is one of America's longest WC racers a "veteran" so to say even tho is he what? 23 years old? Duncan is a cool guy and has a lot left in him. He maybe hard to talk to sometimes but I wouldn't say he sucks. Him and Jared are great ambassadors for Giant. Yes theres faster people out there but not everyone can be a top 3 rider. So what if he had a bad year, it happens.

And yes Hart is about to explode with wins, just watch. I mentioned his name in the OP.

I really like his controlled chaos riding style. He's not the fastest guy out there, but he sure looks fast! He has a lot of years left and he'll only get faster...

Good edit here:
