Gnarly man.

You may want to remove the personal info from the x rays. Name, DOB, what looks to be your medical record number.

Love the pink booties. ;-)

On this day five months ago, I was on the operating table getting patched back together. Today, I walked on the beach in 70 degree weather, and had a slice of chocolate cake with lunch. Life is good.

:clapping: Hooray for milestones! Every year we have a big old party on the anniversary of my accident. We call it death day, have friends over, celebrate continued life and drink too much. I heartily recommend the same to you. :weee:

Awesome! I was in a Sh!tty mood 30 seconds ago but reading your post made me realize how trivial my current troubles are. I drink this Sierra Nevada in your honor!

Dude...it's good to hear from you. At least the nurses were hot. I'm sure part of it is the accent. Accents always seem to give women at least a point or two on the scale. We were all pullin for you man.
LOL... Not CANADIAN accents though. :p

Holy F'ing Sh*t dude... -BB- just told me about this so I had to jump back on the Monkey to see how you were. So glad to hear that you are alive and in what seems like great spirits!

That X-ray is nasty. Good luck with the recovery and keep us posted!

I guess I'm healing well because the brain almost forgot that Friday was the 6-month marker for the crash that broke my neck. It was celebrated by the arrival of the insurance check covering my surgery and stay in Vancouver General. It was the last one outstanding, paying off all ambulance and hospital bills (I was in four different ones in two different countries). My office is holding my job for me, and I'm covered by disability payments most of this year, so this hasn't been the financial typhoon I thought it would be.

Since I'm not back at work yet, I fill my days with rehab. I go two days a week to a facility that has been great. The doctor has cleared me to leave when I'm comfortable, with no need for a continued physical therapy program, other than my self-guided efforts, though she instructed me to continue occupational therapy for my left arm and hand. The rest of the week is self guided work at the gym. I walk several blocks to get there, then lift, stretch, climb stairs, ride the elliptical, and even go to an occasional yoga class.

My bud that was with me when I crashed collected all my gear and my bike, and retuned it all to me last month. I took a look at the helmet yesterday and noticed the crash mark that I somehow missed before; it was much farther back than expected, almost to the rear vent on my Giro Remedy.

I'm damn lucky to be here, walking, typing, and even starting to fiddle with my bass (guitar, not fish). Word'round the camp fire is that it takes one year to see the majority of the healing from a spinal cord injury, and I just rounded the half way mark. I'm excited to see what the rest of this process holds.

If I put much faith in what the doctors thought I could do, I wouldn't have made it this far ;)

A bike is in the future, but no more gravity stunts for me. I'm going to sell the Nicolai once I get some other pressing issues resolved. I plan to keep the all mountain bike as an overbuilt spine saver for pedaling fire roads and mellow single track.

First time on a bike since I broke my neck.

One last leg-over before I try to sell it. Pedals aren't on it, but I took both feet off the ground, so I consider it a ride.

He looks like he's having a little trouble with his neck. Nothing a bit of Ibuprofen, a hot bath and lie down won't fix.
Mandown, good to hear the news on the driving front. Will they let you have a disabled sticker for your car? It's not as if you don't have decent grounds to claim one.
