How about the rest of the bike market gets behind it after Lenz gets behind standard 26" wheeled bikes? Deal??

'ski bobing' as we call it in the great white north
we have had 2 local resorts that allow limited usage,

-camp Fortune , is undecided about use-age,
head ski patrol-'Big Steve' is not easy to work with,
and we have had problems in the past!
we are trying for limited usage only in the terrain park!

- Calabogie Peaks, and me have had our differences ,
but most of the time after twisting the ski patrols arm,
and having them inspect the bike I plan to use that day ,
[and if they have a problem with the ride I have chosen] ,
then I go home, and get another bike that meets the requirements of the day.
[ ski patrols always give us a hard time, to make it look as they are working!]
================================================== ==========
since we have been volunteering for years,
building DH trails for there summer programs,
we have a little more leverage then most riders would. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
unless you can master the following ,you wont be aloud on the hill,
you are not allowed to walk up during open hours! ;
-getting the bike on and off the lift is tricky but do-able with practice,
the mount under the seat hits the chair front lip
and you then pull the bike up[wheelie] in between your legs balancing it ,
with it resting on the chair seat, then drop/ lower it down between your legs,
so the handle bars are resting on your knees , [as you must be able to lower the safety bar]
reverse to get off ,
-again stand the bike up between your legs and drop the rear ski on the snow ass the chair touches ,
then slowly lower the front ski , and slide/ride it down the exit ramp,
if you screw up you wont be allowed back on at the bottom,
[so ask the lifty to slow the lift down till you get the hang of it]
hooking the bike under the seat , is different and difficult off loading
[ yes at a resort where the lift travels a greater distance] .

here is my ski mounting device; this type of shock can be found at auto/ car part retailers, and is far better then elastic return systems , ['elastic freezes' ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this year I have 4 different ski bikes ready to rock,
note the bumper under the seat for easy chair lift loading,
--------------------------------------------------------------------

factory made TANK CYCLES, came with snow boards, I installed risers and skies

once my bike was stolen from the bike rack on my bus ,
so I made this folding model to keep safe in side ,or in the car trunk

this project was an attempt to use a YETI / Schwinn frame,
doesn't work well on the jumps, to much travel, but looks good.

my favorite, the first one I made some 24 yrs ago, this is the loaner bike,
for friends who say I'm nutz, once they have tried it there hooked!
but as the snow conditions have been so good this year,
Ive been 'mono boarding' / not skibobing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seven Rules of Skibobing

1. You must remain in control at all times and proceed in such a manner that you can stop or avoid other skiers or objects.

2. Alcoholic beverages help you remain calm, go faster, and build courage

3. Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above. Are you snowboarders listening!

4. When entering a trail or starting downhill, look uphill and yield to skiers coming towards you.

5. use proper restraining straps, and always answer ski patrol staff 'SIR YES SIR'

6. Always wear a helmet, especially in terrain parks and the glads/trees.

7. Important: It is the duty of every skibober to shower every snowboarder they find sitting on the snow in the middle of the ski run on their favorite line with the largest rooster tail possible!...uh, just kidding.

till we meet on the slopes bikedumpDave and crew.

with stuff like these you would probably run into problems in europe also. they look dangerous.
because of the rigidity of the frame '
the compounded leverage acting on the skies edges ,
allows you the turn and stop safely, in all my years I've never had a problem.

but it can happen;
when my skibob was stolen ,and walked up the hill,
it was involved in a accident which got it banned from the resort!
and I got my stolen skibob back later, and the thief was charged!

I would definitely make more trips to the resorts if I could ride one of these. More people at the resort is more money. People hated on snowboards at first too and now look where they are.

Kinda looks like fun (the scooters moreso than the bikes) but I think anyone riding one of these without a leash to make sure it doesn't run away should be banned.

But unless I couldn't snbd or tele, still can't figure out why I'd want another 20 + lbs of stuff to carry around just to do the things I currently do. I have a 4 year old and her skis to manage already...

Also, why do all the videos insist on showing you push the d@m thing back up the hill? If you don't have any more action footage, make the video shorter!

hahahaha, these will NEVER come close to being even remotely popular.....I've seen a grand total of zero of these at whistler/blackcomb in the past 3+ years....and for good reason.....I'm not sure I've ever seen one to be honest, even though they allow them and I think may have tried renting variations of them

they just fall over, i never ride with the annoying leash, only if a lifty wants me to wear it (and only on the lift then)...

maybe thats because the mountain dont allow them? whistler blackcomb is a little bit conservative on stuff like this. i wanted to come for a whole year, but they told me ski bikes are not allowed on the mountain...

not sure if you read the last part of my paragraph or not....but they were allowed a few years back, thought they still were to be honest.....they had full spreads/articles in the pique, multi-page trying to push them, rentals, lessons, the whole deal.....fell flat on its face, people saw them for what they are, gimmicky

i know that, u still find an article about it online. hence the old skool ski bikes ridden with mini skis on your feet have little in common with a snowscoot, besides both having a handlebar. considering whistler blackcombs foresight with building a bike park early this seems a little bit strange in my eyes. smx were also not allowed there what i heard. but it fits into the image i have from north american ressorts. they don't even have contactless lift tickets there! european ressorts = much more up to date...

' how is it even a bike? It has neither pedals nor wheels. It's just a springy chair with some handlebars.'

a friend said he saw skibikes last week on a car in the whistler parking lot?
here is the official reply;
Hello Dave,
Snow Bikes may be allowed at some other North American resorts. We tried them here for several years with a fleet of rental bikes and operated a snow Bike School. We still found safety issues with their usage that were unacceptable to us. Consequently, they are not allowed at Whistler Blackcomb.
Best regards,
Christine

my friend also said Sunshine village and lake Louise allow them,
replys from sunshine,lake loiuse, same;
We do not rent ski bikes anymore however you can bring them to the resort. You will need a leash and you are only allowed to ride detachable lifts. You can check in with Guest service before heading up on the slops.

yeah, the big safety card. lame excuse in my eyes. fun thing is, one of these skibike riders rode there in the summer at camp of champions. there is even a video of it on vimeo. seems like if you pay a lot of money no one cares...

The mountain was renting these ones 4 years ago. http://www.northlegion.com/products/merc-smx/ They were kinda fun for a few minutes, but never took off.

That must be on a pretty flat slope. If you have any speed at all, they're not going to stop instantly.
dude, i ride now for 6 years with snowscoots, in this time i learned a thing or two about them. how much experience do you have with them?

fyi: due to the fact of having a fork attached to the mainframe, the two boards that needed to be in line for the scoot to ride down the hill are in fact not in line, affected from the hits the front board gets from the ground. due to the hits, the fork moves to the left or right, causing the scoot to fall over, mkay?

second thing: i normally try to avoid riding on pistes, as riding powder is more fun. there, i'm the only one i could possibly harm...

There is a revolution happening that is not fully on the radar yet, but it is coming quickly.

All bikers will realize one day that back country trails are still rideable even when they are covered in snow.

In the winter time when we open our eyes and realize that we are bikers being skaters by snowboarding, it will only make sense that we will start riding ski bikes to get the rush only riding can offer. Bikers just do it better.

The revolution is here.

Looks cool but not enough like biking and not different enough from skiing to get more than a handful of people committed to it. Plus, the scooters look heavy and complicated.
