It's funny how in the Northeast you would go through about 6 different states in the same amount of mileage it would take to cover the distance between some of the California cities on that list. But uh, sure, go ahead and lump it all together. And stay the heck out.

I was one of those... went from Philly to Boston to SF... then 7yrs later from SF to OC. Love the people in SF way more (in general), but love the weather and the TRAILS down here. HANDS DOWN:thumb:

I only visit CA, living there for the first half of my life was enough to know better once I left. Yes, there are some nice places in CA, but there are nice places just about everywhere, too.

Living in San Diego for 3 years was the best/worst of it all. You couldn't pay me enough to live in OC (I know, people have tried to pay me enough). But I would live in CA before moving back east. :rofl:

That. Growing up in OC has completely destroyed my will to live there.

I lived in the suburbs of Seattle for 5 years, and learned that some people from other places assumed everyone in Seattle lived like Frasier Crane, or like Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle -- that everyone could see either the Space Needle or Mt. Rainier from their house, we all rode the ferry to work (unless we lived on a houseboat), etc. And over the course of those 5 years, my mother and I never did manage to convey to my brothers that not only did I not live near the ocean, Seattle is not located on the ocean.

On the other hand, my apartment on Capitol Hill overlooked the sailboats on Lake Union, the Space Needle, and the flagship REI, and my wife really did commute to work on a ferry every day (Mukilteo-Clinton).

You would send your kids to a public school?!? :eek: :eek:
I'm a product of public schooling from K-College. That being said, at that point in time CA also had one of the highest education standards in the country... Maybe it's time to move in with SS and Pesqueeb.

I rest my case! ;)

Some people can get a fine education at a public school. Personally, I went to public schools, catholic schools and secular private schols. (My mom liked to move a lot) By far I found the best education at the catholic schools with the private schools a close second. Every time I went to a public school I was placed in the "advanced" classes. Which was funny because at the Catholic schools I was no where near "advanced".

Joking aside I just figured that at your income level you would have figured in private school for your kids already.

And before the public school fan bois start jumping on me because they were educated at a public school... Your milage may vary! :p

My income, where I live makes me middle class. Which is truly sad...

I feel your pain:think::(
Sorry Brian. Not all of us in the Bay Area can live far enough away from the City for our CoL to drop by 20%. Also if I run my income, adjust to CoL in other states, I'm middle class.

Then again, I'm of the frugal middle-class where I save 30% of my income off the top and don't use debt... That might be my problem though. I save too much.

Let us know how great it is in July until September when it's hot enough to incinerate an egg out there.
Yep...Santa Barbara gets soooooo hot in the summer! I think it usually averages about 70. Not looking forward to that SCORCHING temp.

Oh wait...It's March right now...I'm at work in a short sleve shirt and It's a nice 68 degrees. Ahhhhh....California...especially the best part of CA :p
