Running SS on a Yeti 4x?

Would there be any complications to running a Yeti 4x in SS? I was thinking saint cranks to a king SS rear wheel. Do I need to run a tensioner/guide to make it work?

You would need a tensioner. Might I suggest looking into a frame with a.concentric bb?

What they said.
Running a tensioner is super easy, makes easier work of gearing changes (or tire changes for that matter) and inexpensive.

An eccentric bb is needlessly overcomplicated for a DJ bike, just run a tensioner and be done with it.
Joker said concentric not eccentric and it's because a concentric BB pivot means no chain growth while the pivot moves.

For a full suspension bike, don't you need a sprung tensioner, similar to a derailleur, instead of the standard tensioners like the Gusset that are fixed in place? There's going to be some chain growth as the suspension cycles and something needs to release that slack and take it up again...

I've got the 4x sitting in my bike room. I just don't want to deal with gears on it. I want to find a nice ratio and go with it. I know for a 4x bike this seems odd, but I'm hitting that level in my life where I was to be able to go with that whole K.I.S.S adage.

And I'm too cheap to buy a full on drive train right now.

Saint cranks on a King rear wheel all bolted on a Yeti 4x frame... and you're too cheap to buy a drivetrain.

Sounds like a cool idea- you'd only be out $30-40 or so for the tensioner if you don't like it...

Also, it sounds like the ideal bike to go SS (at least in the realm of full suspension). Do it and post some pics for us! :)

The bike and paintjob are cool, with the exception of the stubby seat. Looks like it'd be a fun bike.

I like it. The Cowan was bad ass, the ghetto shop in Forest Grove had one for the jump park. Dave said he rode it at Blackrock, so why not the Yeti?

I hear this tensioner is VERY good (http://labs.yesspro.com/).

If you want to go without the tensioner you can use one of these (http://www.whiteind.com/rearhubs/singlespeedhubs.html). A few people around here have them, pretty cool idea... less is more on a SS IMHO.

EDIT... Just realized that you're talking about a FS rig... you'll need the YESS. But the ENO hub is still cool for hardtails so I'm leaving it up ;)
