It's that time of year again, get your race season started early at Clemson Freeride's 6th annual Spring DH Race! Last year's turnout was huge and this year we hope to have even more riders. The race is open to absolutely anyone, no license required. Due to the shear number of expected entries, we are NOT allowing any late riders to register - BE ON TIME!!!

Cost: $25. CASH OR CHECK ONLY.

Classes: Expert - Sport - Beginner - Youth - Women

Registration: 8:00am - 12:00pm

Rider Meeting: 12:30pm

Racing Begins: 1:00pm

Directions from I-85:
1. Take exit 19B off of I-85 and head towards Clemson.
2. Follow this road until its end at a red light and take a LEFT Hwy 123(there will be an Ace Hardware across the road)
3. After crossing over the lake you take a RIGHT at the second red light on Old Seneca/Clemson Hwy.
4. Take a RIGHT onto Lawrence Bridge Road. (it will be across from a concrete company)
5. After you cross over the lake again the main gate to the forest will be about 1/4 mile on the right. (Gate Closed during Winter Months) will be open for race event.

A few notes:

  • Due to day light issues and time constraints considering last years turnout of 165 racer entries, we're only planning on offering one timed one per racer this year.
  • We'll have electronic timing this year for quick results and awards.
  • I believe we say this every year, but the recent modifications to the trail have made this the best race course we've offered.
  • All jumps with gaps will have go-arounds.
  • Teams are welcome to setup their tents in the finish area as they did last year, but please leave some space for the timing officials.
  • Bring your own food and water. The race is in the middle of a forest, thus neither will be provided.
  • DO NOT PUSH YOUR BIKE BACK UP THE TRAIL. USE THE FIRE ROAD DURING PRACTICE FOR ALL UPHILL TRAFFIC.
  • PROPERLY DISPOSE OF YOUR TRASH AND ANY OTHER TRASH THAT YOU SEE. Our privilege to build and host races in Clemson's forest hinges on our ability to keep the forest litter free. The forest is littered with trash after every race for some reason. Please make an effort to change that.
  • The same goes with alcohol. I know its lame, but make a serious effort to refrain from bringing alcohol into the forest. The university forestry department is serious about this. THEY WILL revoke our rights to build and host races if they find the remnants of alcohol bottles littering the area after the race.

We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Hey man, I ride blue dirtbag... if you see me up there introduce yourself, i'm actually not a dick in person. These interwebs are so impersonal.

These forums bring out the best/worst in me. I took a chance because your user name was close to the one on empty beer( MTBR ) I'm going for a night ride tonight(if I can beat the snow!) so my demeaner is better knowing I'm gonna get a ride fix today:weee:

It's hard for someone to outshine my asshattery. On MTBR, you make me look like a saint.:thumb:

As soon as the new DH rig is in, we'll hook up again. I'll be glad to show you the way into and through Wayehuta as a shuttle anytime. We just have to find out if Moses Creek is clear to the top or take a BIG saw.

The course was rolling stupid fast today. I had to clean bugs from my teeth from the grinning. Can't wait for March 5th. Thanks to all the guys at Clemson Freeride for making such an awesome trail.

You left out the BLACK MARKS on the berms.;) There was burnt rubber over all the trail. I've ridden Clemson for longer than most have had real DH bikes and that is the fastest it's ever been. The new section out of the wall ride and to the A-frame drop is sketchy fast and ridiculously fun.

Oh, and Cecil, the only "fitness" anyone needs there now is a gate start from flat ground. We did several blistering runs and weren't all that gassed.

Big props to the crew. Good seeing Wilson and Nick G there. Fun watching the new school Garth (whose scrubs & whips may shame even motomike). Also props to Nick for offering sandwiches.

Fellas...bring your "O" face.

Looks like I will be there taking pics for Matt, Cecil and (hopefully if he shows) a buddy from Asheville. If anybody wants or needs anything (I am all about sharing), just let me know. I will have either a black Santa Cruz or black Intense hat on. Or look for my wife, she will likely have two Golden Retreivers with her.

I hope you have a "way out of shape-heavy bike" class.!
Once i get the Demo8 i just built up to speed i don't plan on hitting the brakes.
Also, can i have one or two pushers off the starting line "like in the Olympic bobsled competetion!?

I say it b/c I know you love to put your own headset in. And on the off chance you have the new 40 series headset from Cane Creek, you need to use their special tool to install it.

That and your history of upside down headset installation.;)

Nope...just taking my usual cheap shots involving headsets and Cecil. It's an inside joke. Classless, senseless, useless and funny only to me. Shocking, I know....:p
Dang I thought I sensed an unconditional love for your brotherman and that you were sincerely concerned that he may put his headset in upside down and loose control of his pedal bike.
