The PRO GRT events will have a greater factor in selecting the Worlds team this year. From Marc Gullickson (USAC)....

"I have included all of these Pro GRT events in my Elite and Junior World Championship selection document.

For Elite Men and Women DH riders, the top American in the overall final results if they are ranked in the top 3 overall will make the Worlds team...

...Junior men and women the rider with a racing age of 17-18 with the fastest finish time for each of the 5 events will be put into a pool and out of that pool 2 men and 1 woman will be chosen using the results from the Winter Park Crankworx event."

what's this mean? Get your ass to the Pro GRTs! :thumb:

Makes sense

"using the results from the Winter Park Crankworx event."[/I]:
What does this mean? This is a tiebreaker? automatic team selection, since the national champs isn't until AFTER worlds? Where they going with this Dylan? They really going to try and have a Winter Park track decide something important?
Any word if these 2 men and 1 woman are in addition to any returning Junior riders that were on last year's team? Young Mr. Mulally might be better off spending his time with Gwin and Leov, with no disrespect to the GRT series.

Should not have hit the send key until I read Gullickson's full statement on USA Cycling.
Only the top junior finisher at each of the Pro GRT races will be put in the pool, and then the results of the Crankworx race will be used to pick the top 2 finishers who would be eligible for the team. The maximum number of potential positions is 7. Answered all my own questions.

Sorry for wasting any seconds of your life that you cannot get back.

Is Crankworx Colorado even a USAC event this year?
At this time, it's not even on the USAC site as pending, doesn't mean that can't change.

Still looks pretty good doesn't it, USAC gets the nationals scheduled after the conclusion of then season, then has the winner of an as of yet unsanctioned race, chosen from a pool of no more than 5 riders, who had to have won at least one of only 5 races, chosen from only one race series, compete for 1 junior worlds slot.

Assumes Neko gets (and deserves) the other one, and with apologies for the longest run-on sentence I've ever written.

There is nothing in Mr. Gullickson's "2011 Gravity World Championship Selection" link (upper right on the MTB homepage), that indicates how anyone else will be selected, if USAC takes more than 2 junior riders. The document does state that they can select up to 7 Cat 1 Junior riders for the team.

Just beautiful......
