I built my girlfriend a DH bike last year and put some boat anchor wheels on it I had laying around. The frony is a 36H Hadley w/ 729 and the rear is the stock hub off my old 04 Demo 9 which is 36H laced to a 729.

Can anyone tell me what wheels came on the Iron Horse 6points? Or suggest any light 150mm wheel sets?

She's rides mostly smooth stuff like B-line and Crank it up so I'm not worried about her smashing rims.

Can't beat pro 2's for a hub that's light, cheap and reliable. For rims, I think you should look into 719's laced double butt. The 719's have held up for two seasons on my AM bike that gets quite a bit of time riding full dh trails, shore trails, even whistler, and I'm 220lbs. The double butts flex a little more which helps with minimizing wheel deflection, which is nice for lighter riders, as well as having a longer fatigue life, so less upkeep.

That's what I intend to build up for a future girl's dh build.

why not the ZTR flows? no reason spending the ridic coin on the Hope Pro IIs. $515 retail is pretty dialed and I'm pretty sure it includes the tubeless kit.

Leigh D runs some crankbros on the DH and shimanos on the trail bike, probably not the 'gnar lightest wheels' on the market, but they work for her.

hope pro II with ztr flows if u want super light and not that fussy about how much you spend. If your on a budget and want light weight get some of the nukeproof wheels there light and cheapish. On my gfs bike she runs hope pro IIs with dt 5.1s cause i had them knocking about when i was building up the bike but all the other girls she rides with all use ztr flows

I'd give my vote to the Pro IIs on Flows too. I would say I'm a hack and can't pick lines to save my life. It's usually plow through, hold on to the bars and hope for the best, for me.

$365 for Hope Pro II wheelset on EN521s from CRC. Hope Pro IIs are a bargain for a brilliantly made hub.

Whatever you do, keep that Hadley!

An old Hadley's better than buying a new Hope any day...
Pfft. I changed from my Hadley junk to a Hope over a year ago and haven't looked back. No rebuilds, no missed engagements. Just smooth running, lower weight and half the price.

As long as the Hopes are working out for you guys, sweet. Not hating.

I just get irritated at any front hub that doesn't use a preloading system like Hadley. Even the nicest bearings develop play after time, and it's one less thing to be rattling loose on your bike.

All my bikes run Hadley if the wheel's handbuilt. I have two sets that are going 3+ seasons strong with only 1 maintenance period on each rear hub. I service them in the shop I PT at and the only problems that ever come up are from people washing their bikes too much, or just ignoring them altogether.

I'm getting carried away here I guess, and I'll say that if I couldn't get Hadleys, I'd get Hope or DT. My 2 cents.

Those nukeproof wheels are cheap. Has anyone had a set?

After the wheels it'll be time to fix the 66SL ATA. What a hunk of ****e! Hopefully pulling the PARS valve will make it work or else I'll be going to avalanche for a cartridge. This is going to cut into my parts but it's awesome having her riding and having fun.

Friend of mine got a set of Nukeproof/823's and they're going good. The same guy removed the PAR on his 888 ATA and also had good luck with that. :thumb:
