GoPro problem

Yesterday was a SICK day at Mad River Glen...25+ of fluff! So I record numerous runs get home to look at the footage and I only have 1 complete video out of 10+....that one being the first video taken.
When I open the rest of the vids they are 10 to 30 sec long and should have been 5 min or more. It seems like it just stops recording (while watching) but at the bottom of the run the light is still blinking (recording).
Battery still has power so I don’t think that's it and I didn’t have this problem last summer.
Any thoughts?

What card are you using and with which system of files is it formatted?

The camera is the standard version not HD and I don't think you can change the video settings. The SD card is a Maxflash HC 4GB.

The only time that ever happens to me is when the battery is low, although it gives me no indication that the battery is low; I just end up with the 1st 10 seconds of the video that I thought would be much longer.

Sounds like it might be the SD card. I know that GoPro specifically recommends using SD cards from SanDisk, Kingston, and Patriot.

the cards being Class 4 is the biggest concern but it isnt as important on the non-hd models.
first gen, non-hd models had their fair share of issues like this

Hmm, I dropped a Class 6 Kingston 16gb in my HD and it made pauses in the videos; playe for 5 secs pause for 1, repeat.

I flashed it with new FW since, and havent had a chance to test it again.

Sunday? Muahahahaha!

I do know that the SD card is a cheap one. I reformatted it and will see what happens this weekend. I never had this problem shooting all summer riding so maybe the cold has something to do with it. It just seems strange that when I get to the bottom of a run it shows that it is still recording.
I'll post again after the weekend.

Yep, even at regular temps, I found the only batteries that kept major issues from happening are lithium. I also re-formatted the card as it seems that running a gopro with batteries other than lithium can cause it to corrupt the SD card. Finally, when you first start recording, hold down the button for about 5 seconds or so. Don't ask me why it works, I can't say, but it seems to.

I just need to sack up and get the HD version :\

Yep, sucks. I had the same issue with mine, regardless of batteries, SD card, etc. Even after talking to gopro customer service a bunch of times, mine still crapped out on a regular basis.

Solution: return it to REI for refund.

My batteries are the rechargeable lithium type so it’s not that. I do know that the camera has taken some hits this past year so that may be the problem also. I will be out skiing this weekend and hope the reformatting of the SD card does the trick. I'll let ya know.
