Anyone out there interested in some early season racing? Check out this series!

http://sandyridgespringbrake.blogspot.com/

100% non profit, all money goes towards building new bad ass trails. If you haven't been to Sandy Ridge you have been missing out on an all mountain riding paradise. These trails cater more toward the aggressive descender with lots of every kind of trail feature imaginable thrown in. Any bike will work but lightweight 6-7 inch bikes work well there.:headbang:

Not sure if they are offering shuttles for practice runs. It is a paved road to the top and only takes about 10 maybe 15 minutes to pedal up. It is a nice gradual road and is a good warm up. Last year at the Oregon Super D there were no shuttles until the race, I would expect the same here.

i'd be impressed if anybody but a pro roadie could get up the road in 15 minutes. it is about a 30-45 minute pedal depending on bike/fitness, about the same intensity as galby. plan on giving yourself plenty of time if you want to take a practice run.

I feel like a challenge has been laid down. :D

Whoops. I'm probably wrong. The last time I rode to the top was at the last super d there in Sept. and it seemed really short. It was around 10 minutes from the bottom parking area to the lower hide and seek cut off I believe? Didn't think it was much further to the top. I will be getting there around 9am and am going to try for 2 practice runs before the race.

No shuttles, per the website:

SRT Super D said:
IMPORTANT All racers are expected to ride or push their bikes to the start gate. We strongly recommend that you give yourself at least an hour to navigate from street side parking to the start gate.
The road is a paved climb, about 3 miles to the start kiosk, and is a steady moderate grade.

was out there on Thursday and adam(?) from the BLM was out plowing the road (about 4 inches at the top), shoveling off the first couple of switchbacks, and removing downed trees. Should be a rockin course for tomorrow. the stream crossing will be dicey for sure though.

Glad you enjoyed the race, thanks for participating. It went pretty well for a fresh crew of volunteers putting it on. Having the SkiBowl timing was key, too. The trail has held up just great and is a testament to good design and hard work put in by bikers.

"Roo" (Ruandy Albisurez) was out there taking photos, I talked to him on the course. I don't see any photos up yet, but he said he would: http://www.ralbisurezphotography.com/

Was hoping to volunteer Sunday but forgot I had a steelhead trip booked (ended up getting one). Hope to make it out to one of the events to volunteer while I'm healing up (not biking related)
