Nothing else like Downieville on this continent (punishing XC race combined w/ hour long DH/Super D). That is why is sells out in 2 minutes every year.

Oregon has some killer Super D stuff ranging from full DH to trail bike courses. http://www.oregonsuperd.com/w/

Ashland may have a real Enduro race in a year or two, but the current 12 mile Super D is pretty tame (but fun).

Real Endurance DH is here: http://www.angelfireburner.com/

Go to Europe and they have tons of Enduro events all over.

Bummer on missing D'ville, it is a epic event. It has been changed from overall time to a points system this year to keep the XC guys honest.

The folks that run the MSC have been scouting locations to hold an Enduro event in CO/UT/NM at some point this season, but I haven't heard where they're at in securing a place/permits/dates/etc.

Since Dville is billed as the "AM World Championships" they should make room for a larger pro field. I'm on the waiting list but not hopeful.

I heard today that there'll be a Super D series at Keystone, but haven't heard if it'll be time trial or mass start.

I gave up on trying to do Downieville a long time ago.

Lucky for me, The Ashland Mountain Challenge (previously called the 12 Mile Super-D) is in my back yard... You need to be fit to do it, but the trails make it great.

The course is awesome! But to me enduro dh means dh bike or big all mountain bike. The amc has a pretty killer climb (bull gap) that isnt any fun on anything, let alone in the middle of a super d.

We have revived the MegaAvalanche race in the Andes of Peru near Machu Picchu !

Mass start at 15,000 feet down 5k to the finish line on Inca trails makes for a great race. This year it is April 30 which means it will be drier, not like last year when we sent 4 to the hospital for ... hypothermia !

Chris Van Dine will try to defend his crown this year, come check it out. Free coca leaves to all riders :)

+1 for mr. booger, the Red Bull Burner/Final Descent races are pretty awesome endurance DH. I've done the Angel Fire 12 hour race for the past 2 years, and it's the most fun I've ever had racing.

Also, MSC is doing a "mega Super D" this year at Snowmass; basically starting at the top of the mountain for a full ~3k foot descent vs previous years where we rode down that service road for a bit to the start at the restaurant. Keystone will also have a Super D, which should be pretty long.

That Peru MegaAvalanche sounds sick! 10k feet of descending!

The number of racers that can do the Downieville DH race is limited by the Forest Service. The permit only allows 250 or something, pretty small. The Pro field was actually the last to fill up, expert filled within minutes. If you are on the waiting list there is a good chance you will get in. All sorts of Pros have comped entries through their sponsors and end up no showing.

Or just do the XC, you still get 85% of the DH course + sick bonus terrain on Pauley Creek and some rough and rocky jeep trails.

And yes, the hour long climb right out of the gate sucks big balls. Especially w/ a single 36, or 38 for Weir, or 40 for Craig!

Good to know. Hopefully I'm near the top of the list since I got on less than a week after registration opened. I need to find out 2 weeks in advance though cuz it's a long drive and there's an MSC race that weekend that I'll attend if I don't get in.

In my opinion the Brianhead Super DH down Dark Hollow in Utah is one of the best around!!!

20 minutes, 2100ft descending, 100ft of climbing, 3 minutes of flat pedaling at the start. It's super rocky, a 6" bike with beefy tires is best. Quite a few riders chose their DH bike instead of their trail bikes. I rode my Reign X with a 170 Lyric and Minion EXO 2.5 tires and a 36t ring.

We did it for the first time last year and it will be held again this year. We are planning on late July, a week after Downiville. Last year we did it the same weekend as the downhill but we want to have it as a stand a lone event from now on.

Here's the Utah race schedule- but the Super DH isn't posted quite yet.

I had fun at Ashland and will go again, this time on a 27lb bike not a 30lb bike. I got my ass kicked on my Reign X.

There is going to be a Super Duper D (whatever that means) at the MSC Blast The Mass,...3000' descent. I know nothing else about it. Pray to your God for a time trial format. I refuse to do another LeMans stampede again. MSC are you listening!?!?

That sounds sick.
15K feet? Damn...
I had mild hypothermia in Moab, in the LaSalle mountains, at around 10K feet. That was less than fun. Made the ride interesting though.
