Acros claims they delevoped a new hydraulic shifting system but sadly they havn't made a new product, they went & bought 5ROT which is a german brand that makes premium shifting drivetrain & then Acros comes and makes it allot more expensive than what a 5ROT normaly cost.

Pricing in Europe is still unknown by Acros, but for the people here the 5ROT cost aprox 1500 euro for the whole system. But keep in mind Acros version will be allot more.

Pricing in the USA will be $2306 for the Acros(5ROT)

Though I think hydraulic shifting makes sense (especially if it could be combined with the optical adjustment that's on the electric shifting stuff) I think I'll wait for a gear box bike... A Zerode will be thouroughly considered when I need to replace my bikes (DH and AM)....

hydraulic shifting was done years ago? (early 90s by a USA boutique billet machine shop) used to see the ads in the back of MBA mag

If I remember, didn't it have problems with reliable indexing due to the effects of changing atmosphere pressure from weather or altitude on the hydraulic indexing system?

as indexing relies on incremental and equal movements, unlike open bath hydraulic disc brakes which have a progressive movement between open and fully closed (lock up)

well, EGS had a similar approach to derailleurs plus a twist grip that looked like an artisan japanese asteriskasteriskasterisk-toy...

That's old news, folks. I've been reading about the 5ROT hydro shifting system for about 10 years now... Never seemed to catch up anywhere. Now in these days of "extreme bike bling", this gruppo might have a chance...

there is most definately a market for these. weightweenies, tech geeks, pecunious folks. the functional difference over common systems may be marginal, but that´s not the point. porsche panamera, anyone?

I was cold testing a set of hydro "cables" for Scott from SAFE when I was commuting in Steamboat Springs during winter. It had issues w/ the seals freezing up, and it was pretty vulnerable to impacts as it wasn't very small. That system was one that had actual cable interface between shifter and derailleur. I don't think it was anywhere NEAR the kind of price this system is commanding!

The one guy running 5rot stopped making these.
Without Acros the idea would have died.

Why do you think Acros will raise the price?
German Bike magazine speaks of 1599 Euros, that is where the 2306 USD are coming from.

Ok so Acros will be selling it for 1600 euros which they charge 100 euros extra than the 5ROT price which you get the same hydraulic system but then with the acros logo on instead of 5ROT:disgust1:

The lbs has good contacts with Acros since he knows the guys at Acros and they said they will be charging more than the 5ROT system.Acros made some small cosmetic changes but still it will be exact the same kit you will get when people buy the 5ROT.

And you thought it stung slightly in your wallet when you saw your SRAM X.0 disintegrate against a rock.

This? You'll need therapy and a second mortgage if it gets smacked.

Read in a German forum that the inventor of the 5rot is now working for Acros.
Thet's why they charge more, they have to pay one additional engineer now. :D
