even though I'm not into slammed seats, frame = madness. Could use some reinforcement between head- and downtube maybe, but for just trails it should be fine.

There is an internal gusset welded into the downtube. If you look at the 6th picture down you can see the weld.

69 HA = foot clearance for x-ups and yeah 69 is good for trailin' .

sick. will atomlab do custom for anyone?
Thomas was building some new hardtail prototypes for Atomlab and I got in on one.

I tried to clear coat it, but after a week it started rusting underneath. So I stripped the clear back off and I'm just treating the metal right now and I'll see how that goes.

The new Atomlab completes are dope.

to be honest I had a bad experience with Atomlab frames...
I had the Trailpimp and they were very good but after 4 months they died on me XD.
the frame crackd and I didnt get warranty from Atomlab.
and then for some reason i bought
the new Atomlab TrailKing frame and 5 months later they broke realy bad at the head tube but this time I did get warranty from Atomlab and they send me a new TrailKing frame...
too bad that they sent it two months ago and still I didnt received the f*cking frame!
so Im pretty angry at them !!!
(if you like to see a pic of the broken TrailKing here is the Link http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2555161/ )

Awesome!!

I love to see this stuff. There is some really creative ideas in this frame.

It is easy for anyone to critique as apposed to actually getting in there and creating it...

I do not care for the internal down tube gusset. I think it could create too much rigidity, and combined with the welding, which compromises the integrity of the parent metal, on the bottom/top edges of the tube (my belief there is more stress on these areas than the sides of the down tube) will create a stress riser right at the point where the gusset ends on the down tube. An open-ended flat gusset would be a bit more production-friendly and a bit more structurally sound.

Again, like I said, it is easy for me to sit here and criticize from behind the comp. It is a whole 'nother thing to get in there and create from an idea.

Props to you for thinking outside the box.

I definitely like the look of long in the front, short in the back. It makes it look even more 20" bmx-ish rather than 24 cruiser-ish if u know what i mean....

Hmm. Ratio of tt to cs...
This bike: 22.75 / 14.6 = 1.59
Typical 20" BMX: 21 / 13.75 = 1.53

Versus, say a MOB... 22 / 15.6 = 1.41
And typical 24" bmx cruiser (e.g. S&M 38 Special).... 21.5 / 14.75 = 1.42

The seat tube is off-set on the BB too, which probably makes it ride even bigger yet. The geo is money for a short A2C rigid fork.

Very cool!!

Took it out to the park the other night for the first ride, I was very pleased. Coming from a P.3 this is a huge geo change, so it took me an hour or so to get the feeling. Very fast, manuals like none other, easy to turn in the air, jumps like a champ and that nice feeling of steel under neath me.

Heading down to Ray's Jan. 2nd or 3rd, if you're there and see me, hit me up.

Nice! That thing looks sick. I like the short stays and high-ish bb. I think frames like that and the TrailKing are the future of bmxish hardtails. I'd love to try that thing out. What's the frame weight?

Just over 5lbs, Thomas told me the exact weight but I can't remember exactly, maybe 5 lbs 6 oz. He said by going with the bmx standard 1" seat tube that it added a few oz's on due to the limited wall thicknesses with that i.d. No biggie for me though, I'm not much of a weight weenie, just as long as it rides good, and she does! :monkeydance:

Wow, very slick! Nice work Thomas! ...and congrats to you on one bad mammajamma there. I like it.

Back over the summer I saw a kid in one of the LBS's who had a raw custom Atomlab BMX frame. Looked like a Colony Hell Stallion, or something of the like, with the super low tt. Interesting stuff. Had some nice details on it too, he didn't say who exactly had fabricated it though, simply his "friend" at atomlab... wonder if it was Thomas.

I don't know what all the discussion about stp's, NS's, and blkmrkt's is, but they have nothing on that frame, nothing to do with it either....

It may have been my buddies kid Nick. He had a cutom 20 built up by thomas last summer, his dad is getting his 26 built up right now. There are quite a few custom frames floating around MI that are built by Thomas, he's been at it for a while.
