Is anyone on here racing it? I've raced it for the past 4 years and am getting kind of tired of the same course (except for two years ago when they changed it). Anybody here know if they're going to be running something different and if they have changed anything at the resort?

When I was down there last year, the bike park builders said they were planning on using a completely different course in 2011. I got the impression it is going to be Supreme DH mostly.

I don't have any official affiliation to Angel Fire, so I don't know if that's for sure though.

We are planning on implementing a new DH course this year. We are going to utilize some sections of Supreme and some sections of the original W/C course. The goal is to make the course steeper, more turns and a shorter overall time. Is that good?

Sounds great. Where do you plan to cut over to world cup from supreme?

I keep my ear to the ground and I hear the rebirth of something great!
And that is dual slalom! What is the likelihood of this happening?

Rumor has it there will not be 4X, but DS is not a registration option either.

There will be no 4X at AF, DS instead. Per Darner, the site will be updated to reflect these changes.

I didn't want to say anything regarding the 4X because it (Craig's passing) was a huge tragedy and I can understand the immense liability that Angel Fire and MSC had to deal with, BUT that course was the last "real" 4X on this side of the river and its sad to see it go. As Abuser said, it seems to be the end of an era and its sad to see it happen.

New course for sure... I will be there racing DS and DH. Personally, i'd like to race World Cup again as I love that course while I hate parts of Supreme DH, but oh well.

I wish there was a better way to say this but upper supreme would suck. As far as an end of an era I kinda agree but I raced DS at angel fire so I'm stoked. Don't think I can afford to race both DH and DS sad face.

If 4x at AF is done, The AF DS track better be Sea Otter Dual Slalom track in nature. To me, Sea Otter is the best there is. It's so much fun to race and challenging in it's own ways because of cornering, jumping and pedaling.
I just hope for a much better starting gate than what Sea Otter has. My God. That's the worst starting gate I've ever seen in my life.

Mojo Wheels has a lot of 4X racers and lots of people knew Craig in the MSC. I would think they closed the 4X course out of respect. No one is going to want to race a course where their friend passed away.

Nice! Glad to see some changes being made. Kinda bummed that it's going to be two seperate courses. USAC won't let me drop down from Pro (I have not been riding much or training at all really) and into Cat 1. If it was all one course I'd just race sport to save the stupid $150 international license that I'll only use at AF and at Keystone :~

Anyways, I heard there are finally going to be some jumps out there? Please tell me that's true! I can't wait to make the 15hr drive there again...already got the condo booked and the bike is being (slowly) prepped.

Where do you gather that there will be two separate courses? Last year, Cat 3 thru Pro were all on the same course, and AF hasn't said anything to elude any different for this year.

Jumps? Go search online for Candyland. They built a pretty serious jump line there last year, and used it for the Final Descent. I think the biggest jump in Candyland is about a 40ft long table.

I read it somewhere on the MSC website last night. Can't find where it was anymore but it was on there. Well...I was on shrooms and saw a unicorn so maybe I just thought I saw two courses haha.

Either way I dont think it would be fair to sport riders for a wanna be "pro" to drop down into their class.

Thanks for the jump stuff though, looks awesome!

Stoke.

Trucker: your poster makes it seem like there will be no Super D this year? Is that the case?

+1
I'm still on the fence if I'm making this one. Was a definite if it was 4x but can understand why it is not. Now I'm likely deciding based strictly on what the course for DS ends up being like.

We took a trip out there for opening weekend. race course will start off duke on a small new section then hit upper boogie and maybe pepper spray for the start which will be a rocktacular start for a race. Trails were in great shape with only a few berms brake bumped. First time to jump Candyland tables, was a bit windy but they were way fun when hit good. they had just started dual course construction. skills park jumps and pump track were fun to mess around on once done with the real riding on the mountain. Here are a few snaps.

No Lift lines hardly all day!

A couple pics of dual construction start is in trees on left.
