i wouldnt put my money on a company that makes ****ty suspension products, for a saturated market, where the customer base are over-indebted marginally well-off upper-middle-class yuppies in dire risk of being outsourced out of existance, and brah-deal sailing punks..

It's not about putting money into the company, it's about seeing if there is any way I can make some money off of the IPO.

the bulk of their business is mid to low end OEM components. Which they have been doing increasingly well in.

"mid to low OEM components" means, for the general non-biking population, $500-$1000 bicycles sold at specialized bike shops.

who, for the most part, buys $500-$1000 bicycles, if not upper-middle class yuppies?

Nobody here could get into an IPO if they tried. Only institutional investors participate. Everybody would be buying on the secondary market - which is what the stock market is.

So like an investment bank or a hedge fund would buy into the IPO and the peasants buy from the bank or buy into the hedge fund?

What if I had a large sum of money and wanted to invest? Would a normal person then be able to buy, or is it limited / restricted to institutions only? Not that I have a large sum of money, I am just curious.

Thanks!

^^ pretty much.

Trading ON an exchange is typically all public. Trade WITHIN an exhange will be "for members only." Someone correct me if I am wrong.

That being said, meh, call me when this is optionable.

I have been monogamous with my rep, so I need to whore it out before you see it again.

quoted for awesomeness. I think you mean magnanimous. This may call for custom title re-jiggery.

If theres one cover I'd love to be on, its this one. Being on this IPO/due diligence would've been awesome.

the IPO is still a ways off, that was the initial filing of their registration statement. it'll be at least a few months until the shares are trading, so you guys have some time to scrape together some cash to buy in to this bad boy.

a SRAM IPO sounds like a good way to lose some money. Tech stocks are hot right now, no one is clamoring for a bicycle component manufacturer.

What's the commission like for setting up an IPO like that? just out of curiosity if you dont mind me asking.

pretty sure P = Public.

Don't you just need a Broker if not one of the firms listed ... then somebody big enough to deal with these peeps

J.P. Morgan BofA Merrill Lynch Morgan Stanley
Baird Lazard Capital Markets
Piper Jaffray

I've never heard of Piper Jaffray, or Baird, but I'm not local.

Would have thought marketable parcels were still below $5K (particularly fr an IPO) which I'm relatively sure most people on here could afford, if they were so inclined.

7% usually, but it ultimately depends on the deal.

Some of the initial shares might go retail (single investors), but a lot of the time it only goes to institutions.
