And he's got a GoPro chesty cam?

I think the helmet cam gives better perspective on line choice. Chesty cam is more entertaining as you can see rider input/feedback. And BB cam for.....?
I think it is so the Fox guys can watch the fork working in the rough and get a better idea of what is going on for tuning reasons. They did it for the compression....I think.

Qualies are on...

Jill was fastest at the first split by almost 1.5 seconds, then down by over 9 seconds at the second split, then held steady to the finish. I hope she had an issue prior to the second split and can get closer to the top of the podium for the finals. Rach is going to be tough to beat.

whats going on with the mens? why did it take 15 minutes for fabien cuisine to qualify, and nobody else has qualified in the mean time? crash/injury? but no DNF?

also, bummer that kona girl from Worlds/4x last year didn't start, I was looking forward to seeing her on the circuit this year, she was killing it.

a few things I'm noticing from qualies:

duncan riffle has picked up his game in the last year. Alot.

From being a 'mediocre' midpack rider to a very solid top 20 bet it looks like. I don't know if its the hard work he put in during the off season, the new bike working out, or the team support/not running his own team, but whatever it was, props to the dude.

last edit: oops, look like I was wrong and there were some solid qualifiers left to come. spoke to soon. Oh well, still a pretty dec qualifying from him anyway.

WTF is going on with hill, he's normally a pretty solid contender, he's either slow playing the hell out of this, or those comments that he was fat and not trying during the off season were true. Hopefully its the slow play, but it seems strange to slow play qualies after finishing poorly (relative to his normal standing) at PMB.

Also, Hart is killing it, I hope to see him winning some.

And neko and Brosnan finally have more then .9 seconds separating them, because brosnan is KILLLLING it.

And, last but not least, the gwin fanboys are gonna go nuts. Myself included.

edit: also, I would be pumped to see elliot jackson qualify. From being RM fodder of people saying he shouldn't get to just get to "jump to pro" even if he might be fast enough to qualifying for world cups (and being fast enough).

Wow, Gwin killed it, outright fastest in the top two splits... Hill a fair way off the pace again? Sucks for him. Rad to see Brosnan in the top 10!

The qualis look really strange here. Wallner as always high in FT. William but Strobel, Brosman and Hart are nuts. I always thought they prefered more technical tracks.

Whats up with Hill and more important Cam Cole and Nick Beer. They are faaar from their usual results.

Hart seems well suited to anything where letting off the brakes and hoping for the best makes you go fast. Cool to see the old guard being shaken up a bit by new guys but yeah, weird that Hill, Cole, Peat etc aren't up where you'd expect em to be.

things do not look well for fairclaugh, doing well at the first split and bonked for the 2nd. Poor guy, I was hoping for him to be able to pull off the ACL-less riding thing.

Do we only get to see the top 34? Wondering if ropelato qualified

Where can I buy a Gwinning t shirt, presumably with the sleeves removed?

yeah but thats only the top section. Most of the time here is quite phisical and he doesnt seem like a powerhouse rider.

Though Matti is also high so maybe the let off the brakes style is the way to go this year ;)

Im most stoked for Troy, that kids a ****ing beast for how little/young he is. Gonna be a tough one to beat when he finally puts on the muscle.

As for Sam, fat or not we all know you cant count that dude out but to see him riding that fast after two serious injuries last year is still impressive. Poor Brendan though, but what a trooper. Remove my ACL I wanna ****ing race.

Can I just say how utterly moronic that is?

Without the ACL and still doing athletics, you are trashing all the other ligaments and most importantly the meniscus gets ground down to nothing. I rode for almost two months post ACL tear and trashed my meniscus....thanks to the stupid first opinion old school doctor I had.

He may get to ride now, but it's gonna make him limp for life. If he only know just how bad that knee will hurt b/c of riding on it now....:nope:

It is going to be a different result for everyone really, and a lot depends on how strong some of the other muscles are to compensate for the missing ACL. I have friends who have no ACL and ski up a storm w/ no problems and just a knee brace. And, if i'm not mistaken didn't Van Dine tear his Spring of '07 or '08 and make the same choice as Brendan so he could race that season?

Maybe his Doc should have consulted Ridemonkey first?;)

I raced without and ACL for 4 months, there was some pain, but ultimeatley I was fine. The major problem was the muscle breaking down in my quads though, by leaving it late it means that rehab is going to take up more training time in the off season, potentially threatening his results next year

This way he gets to race the worlds in Champery, where his chances are quite good, with or without an ACL. And for the chance of winning the title he's putting everything on the line. At least that's how I'd see it, were I in his place

And for what it's worth, I got my knee rebuilt days after my injury, and four years later, I still limp everyday. F-ck it. Makes no difference, he should go get it this season, and by the tine that knee is really a problem, we'll either have great medical technology, or the world will have already ended.

Gotta pay the toll to rock'n' roll! : headbang:

as others have said it all depends on the injury. I waited 7 years to have my ACL repaired and rode throughout.... I'm 100% fine now, 5 years after the surgery.

as for the race, those quali results are indeed weird. did the UCI change the points rules or something? hats off to Gwinn.

Nick Beer crashed and hurt his wrist. The local doctors didn't find anything in the Xrays. He will get checked out when he gets back home.
