Looking for a favor from any monkeys that work for a multi-state corporation.

Wifey and I are looking at moving from SF to the Denver area and have been getting inconsistent cost of living (CoL) adjustment numbers. The three dozen-or-so CoL calculators on Google are not giving anything even remotely resembling a consistent answer on differing CoL between SF and Denver.

If anybody is willing to spend a few minutes on the phone or writing an email to HR asking what you company's CoL adjustment from Denver to SF (or vice-verse), I would greatly appreciate it.

Given that we are moving from the second most expensive city in the country to one that is a bit more reasonable, we need to adjust our 'asked' salary levels accordingly. The problem is that the inconsistency we have been getting from the Google CoL calculators makes it difficult to know if we are under or over asking our income levels.

I know this is an 'out there' request, but I would greatly appreciate the assistance.
Thanks!

where the trails are
I found the COL here to be only slightly less than in the Chicago area.
Housing is on par for comparable homes, but there are a lot more lower cost areas here that are actually live-able here versus back in Chicago.

I moved and took a nice raise.
I'd encourage you to try and do the same.

Nick - I don't disagree in the slightest about trying to get a bump up. I need to know what my floor is and what an equal comp rate is so that I can walk into conversations educated.

Are you talking Denver itself, or one of the Suburbs?
Technically the suburbs (Western/South Western), but City-City is a close enough comparison. I understand the 3-5% within the greater metro area, but we have that here too.

Here, I'll tell you what the cost of living is, wherever you go in the USA.

HIGH!
Seriously? You need to put your tinfoil hat down.

When your common denominator is X (with X being the US), your comparison is between locations within X. If I was moving to Sweden it would be a different conversation. However I'm not, so the rant you just spouted is moot.

According to this, it's 25% less expensive in Denver than SF. That just doesn't seem right...
That seems about right. Here in the OC I'm at +12% Denver is -12%
Almost all of that is housing since cars, food etc is all about the same (except Gas of course).

This doesn't seem to be even close to right. I don't want to think about what sort of ****hole you'd end up in with what they allocate for the housing budget here. It also doesn't vary at all between Boulder and Longmont which have very different COL.
Seriously. What they allocate for housing is less than 1/2 what my mortgage is.......and my house is "cheap"
