That only shows races finnished by both riders. Take Gregs Champery time in 2007. That riding with a shoulder that wouldnt stay together because he manned up and swallowed the pain. Discounting that time, according to my head maths, they have approximately the same time. In that period, all the races missed were on Sams part, while Greg was still getting wins and podiums. And he's been neck and neck with the best in the world since 2001.

You're not wrong, it only shows races where both riders have finished a race run (qualifying only doesn't cut it).
