I would love to see sam hill win, get some confidence back, and start smashing it hard enough to give minnaar, gwin, and gee a run for their money.

I don't see it happening though. Something about being crashed out for the past year and a half seems to have gotten to his head.

looks like minnaar's qualifying was no fluke, and gwin and gee are going to destroy him. His first split time isn't great.

Not that it matters now but I keep seeing Elliot Jackson's splits at the bottom of the page and he must have been flying before the crash.

well...he was only 9.25 seconds down from gwin (rofl) but hill finally managed a podium, good for him. Maybe next time he can be a little higher.

What has happened? How can Gwin be SO much faster since last year? Crazy stuff! It's almost akin to Hill in 2007 when the rest of the pack were sat around thinking "what can we do?". Gwin is on fire!!!

I don't think it is about the team or bike. He has one of the best people in the world to train with. John Tomac.

It looks like he's on a 4 inch travel bike, he doesn't even use the travel for bumps, only for massive hits. The dude must be stronger then a gorilla.

He has the best of everyone in our country behind him! Monk, Tomac, Hughes, Trek, etc. So happy that we could get it all together for once. It's like America cares or something.

Gotta hand it to Gwin, whatever it is that he's been doing has paid off HUGELY. The guy is several steps ahead of the rest of the field right now, and not only on courses that "suit" him! Rad run, loose as hell and including a few mistakes, yet pulled it out for the win.... awesome!

Nice to see Hill a bit closer to being on the pace again too, but nearly 10 seconds back isn't promising for the rest of the season. Gwin is looking pretty unstoppable at this point!

For those that remember Tomac it revalidates his awesomeness. And for those too young to know, Tomac was the original superstar of mountain biking.
