What a great season with so many exciting riders to watch. It is great to watch the young guys like Danny Hart making it interesting and the old fella CG mixing it up. Gwin is on fire and it will be interesting to see if Hill can return to form as the season goes on. Glad to see him podium and hopefully it will give him more confidence moving forward.

what a season!

It sucks Ryan Hughes is not getting any props on Gwins training, Ryno is the secret to MANY athletes taking it to the next level, and hes taking part in Gwins destruction of the field.

Oh, and USA!

That's just it, the only info/news/interviews/comment/discussion we have on Gwin's coaching "staff" is that one press release we got at the start of the season. Would be great for the fans and Gwin's competition to get some more insight into the strength and conditioning Gwin is on. As it's clear it's making a big differnece to his performance. Especially if you compare him visually to say Bryceland or Fairclough.

Glad the ginger ninja is murdering everyone, great for the sport when someone raises the level. Just like Hill in '05-'07!

Agreed! Throw in big House, Tomac, and a great work ethic, he's got a lot of things contributing to this year's successes!
Gwin for the Win!

Wow! So Stoked for Gwin. He looks composed on and off the track. A good ambassador for the sport for sure.

Anybody care to school me on his MX background? Was he a top MX rider too? Why did he stop?

CG!!! 7th place. Tearing it for the old school crew YEAH

The best part about this morning's race? Gwin tearing it up!

The second best part about this morning's race? CG tearing it up!!! His runs have sooo much flair and style. Sooo sick. And still fast!

What a race so much fun to watch and much better camera placement. I really enjoyed seeing Cedric doing really well and also cool to Danny being able to keep it up from last week. It hurts to see Brendan I feel really sorry for the guy. Gwin well I think everything has been said already. Gee today reminded me of when he won worlds.

Yeah Gwin looks really strong, all the core training Hughes teaches seems to work!
What about the next race in St Anne...he´s probably gonna win by 10sec there.

Funny, I seem to recall a few years back a thread discussing the value of a coach for DH racing. A lot of RM blow-hards stated "DH is an individual sport, blah, blah..don't need a coach..blah blah. Is Gwins new found dominance due to his "team"? It would be hard to argue that the "team" has not put him over the top. He was great since day one but is now redefining how to be successful in WC DH.

Not surprised to see someone do it though. Every few years someone re-writes the book like Hill did. The rest of the field studies it, adopts it and once they are comfortable with it they find a way to improve it. It happens in every sport. In DH you got a lot of guys with the talent but the whole package creates a freight train fueled by confidence; and right not Gwin is piloting that train...can't wait for Worlds!

Again really? It was a minute plus in so his 5 seconds off Gee's was wrong but Gee's 3 off was correct? Sweet two races in a row.
There were no mistakes as far as I'm aware at Fort William. But yeah, Gwin sure as hell didn't take 5 seconds out of Gee on a MINUTE of track! :)

Gwin was shown as being 4.7 seconds up on split one. The current hot seat (from our point of view) was Gee. But Gee would actually have still been on track* at this point, so Gwin's time was compared to GREG's top split, not Gee's.

* gee's run ~3min45. Gap between riders 2min30. Gwin was 1min10 into his run, so he went through the first split just before Gee had crossed the line.

Nice to See Steve Smith on the Podium.
Id love to know Gwins entire off season Regime. Everything he does, what he eats, when he sleeps, exactly what he does in the gym etc etc etc etc.

Pep pills. All the top guys are popping them. Either that, or any focus/energy/concentration powder you can mix with water.

Basically, if it's pseudo-scientific and someone in the MX world is using it, these guys are too.

YMMV.

So Gwin blew his feet out of the pedals and rode the last minute of the track unclipped? Nice!

:) No, just for a short section of trail. Maybe a few seconds worth of being unclipped, but still, he pulled it back together and made it down for the win.
He also missed that final jump out of the woods. That looked like it was giving guys a solid 1 second bonus down the stretch....guys who hit it were carrying loads more speed.

Damn, Elliot Jackson 6th at the first split. Crazy for a guy who doesn't do a lick of real "training".
Maybe if he did some "real" training he would make it down without crashing? I know he has loads of talent but he seems to have a hard time making it down the hill. The winning recipe is difficult to figure out, it seems like Eliot may be missing a few ingredients but it would be awesome if he figures it out and starts getting a couple top 10's in his first WC campaign.

So stoked for Aaron Gwin, he is smashing tracks, I predict he will win the WC and World Champs this year if he stays healthy. :thumb:
