Surprise!

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann just announced on CNN that she has filed papers to run for president of the United States, with a formal announcement to come later.

"I filed today my paperwork to seek the presidency of the United States today," Bachmann said. "I wanted you to be the first to know."

Moderator John King moved on to Ron Paul, staying focused on the subject of jobs and the economy.

I've been hoping for this for a long time.
Finally someone who can showcase the depth of reasoning withing the GOP base. I just hope that people pay close attention to what she represents and how she is affecting change on the right side of the isle.
This is good for the country?

Since Corporations are people thanks to the Supreme Court, it really is only a matter of time before they're granted the right to vote, too...
Pretty much any politician that offers an agenda proposing an amendment to fix that BS has my vote. Of course the only amendments that are likely to be discussed are important ones like gay marriage.

I say it's a positive. I think she can pull Romney to the right on all the social stuff. He'll have to act/talk like just as much of a lunatic to beat her in the primaries.

Kicking off her presidential campaign in Waterloo, Iowa, Michele Bachmann explained the geographic significance to Fox News: "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."

This is problematic, the Washington Times explains, because "beloved movie star" John Wayne is not from Bachmann's hometown of Waterloo. John Wayne Gacy, the "killer clown" who raped and murdered 33 teenage boys in the '70s, is from Waterloo. Beloved movie star John Wayne is from Winterset, Iowa.

John Wayne Gacy, John Wayne...what's the difference? (oops content)
http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside-politics/2011/jun/27/the-wrong-john-wayne/

Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo's own John Wayne.

The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo's John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.

Mrs. Bachmann grew up in Waterloo, and used the town as the backdrop for her campaign announcement, where she told Fox News: "Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That's the kind of spirit that I have, too."
