Last weekend...

Here is my gal enjoying life at our new favorite hangout, Merrill's Market. Little shop that sells good beer, great wine, fine cheeses, cigars and game meat. They play live music on Fri and Sat nights too. A couple good beers, a cheese platter and maybe a cigar is a great way to end the week.

Meg and a Monk In The Trunk from Inlet Brewing Co.



I had the Harpoon Summer Ale and the Monk In The Trunk after.

My 3rd double espresso of the day. TGIF.


Did not make it to The Local last night but did have a bunch of mediocre beer at a different bar. The Local tonight is a must now. Will report back.

Tonight I've had;

Liberty Brewing Taranaki session beer, very nice and will be having more if I see it on tap again.... Much like his west coast blond which is amazing.

Then Pink Elephant Golden Tusk ESB, Nice drop.... Another brew that like the Townsend Brews is sending me further down the ESB path away from IPA's

And now that I'm home a bottle of St Ambroise Outmeal stout from Canada.
Very interesting, dark malty roastedness crying out to be had with some bittersweet chocolate yet still with just a bit of tartness that seems to stop it getting too cloying on the pallet.... Drys off quickly making for a nice sessionable stout.

Pretty sure that bottle of Coopers extra stout is gonna look sad after this one.

After 4-5 mimosas we went to Merrill's tonight and "sampled" a handful of local FL brews. Let's see...

Orlando Brewing Blonde
Orlando Brewing Red Ale
Orlando Brewing Blackwater Dry Porter
Goldash Brewing Holy Mackerel Mack in Black (Melbourne, FL)

The Blonde was rather sweet, almost sugary back. The Red was thoroughly tasty. Blackwater was a darker porter and the Mack in Black was a thick porter almost akin to Ten Fiddy but fermented with Pomegranate juice to give it a little bit of a sweet/fruity back. All very good and all recommended. Pictures from the night coming soon...

Tried:

Apache Amber. Awesome amber ale.
Mornington Imperial IPA. Also stellar.
Three Ravens Shwarzbier. Really interesting. Kinda smoky, very tasty.
Stone and Wood Pacific Ale. OK. Very fruity, a bit overly so for my taste.
Bridge Road Chevalier Saison. Pretty good. Not the best example of the style ever, but I liked it fine.

Titanic Stout from England.... Nice drop in the classic English sessionable style.
Next up Townsend No9 stout and then a bottle of Wigram "The Czar" Imperial russian stout to finish (me) off for the night. :)

I'm a big fan of everything that comes out of Ayinger. I still need to try the Century Celebration brew that I saw yesterday but didn't pick up...it's a weisse of some sort I think...

They've got an Imperial IPA called Big Ballard out. If you can find it, it's pretty damn good.

I found this one to be O.K. I think that if they aged it in barrels instead of chipping it, it would've been better. That's the only problem I have with the "oak aged" stuff from Yeti and "oaked" Arrogant Bastard.

Had a number of beers today, by far the best of which was Murray's Vesuvius Imperial Pilsner. Not my favorite style of beer typically, but it's brilliant.

Now, Maker's Mark. Old fashioned. Not my favorite bourbon but options here are a bit limited. Still tasty.
