hasn't this birdie been chirping since ft. bill or at least leogang?I heard a little birdie say keep your eyes peeled this week.
+1It was only a matter of time.
Building Carbon in the states is CRAZY expensive. Look at the Cervelo R5 CA a frame that costs $10K. While the standard R5 from China is about 1/2 the cost! Guess the clean up costs add a huge $ figure to US based carbon production.+1
Now I'm waiting for a carbon M9.
what's the upcharge for a cervelo frame that won't separate at the lugs/bonds?Building Carbon in the states is CRAZY expensive. Look at the Cervelo R5 CA a frame that costs $10K.
Not sure about that. But I have a feeling that will not be happening on the 10K frames. All 8 they sell. The scary part about that is they claim to be expert carbon builders. Yes I have seen a fair number with that issue.what's the upcharge for a cervelo frame that won't separate at the lugs/bonds?
seen it. One of the shops I used to wrench at had a location, primary business there was high end road. HIGH end (i'm talking numerous s-works bikes and serottas on the floor, etc). Also a cervelo dealer. Had a few minor issues with frames leading up to the incident that made the owner decide to drop them. Had a big order with them - 9 frames, all top of the line (I think it was made up of only 2 models though). Out of those 9, 6 of them had separations at the bb lug (seat tube & down tube) out of the box. Owner contacted each person that had ordered a frame, and after hearing about it, nobody wanted their frame (included the customers whose frames that were OK). All 9 frames went back to cervelo and the owner closed the account. Not sure about that. But I have a feeling that will not be happening on the 10K frames. All 8 they sell. seen it.
I hope not...I love intense's....intensiness.+1

must be a canadian thingOh man, yeah when I shot that image it was 1 of 2 R5 CA's in the USA and one of 6 in world I think. If you look at the going away from image you can see a nice scratch on the BB area. Sweet a $10K they managed to send out like that. MAN.
you can enter a part number in that picture? how? magic? If you put that part # in nothing comes up?!
For the Trek carbon? ....or the Demo carbon?????I heard a little birdie say keep your eyes peeled this week.
nah, they'll just spin it that there's is better, the next big thing in carbon frames, or some PR crap like thatspecialized talks alot of smack on carbon dh bikes, don't see that happening soon
I will just wait for you to be strangely happy and twitchy and I will know it is on the way Well unless you are not going to tw next year.Don't ask me
Probably because their trailbikes like to assplode when they're made of carbon.specialized talks alot of smack on carbon dh bikes, don't see that happening soon
definitely not for the session, or any of their mountain bikes. OCLV is made stateside, although I think the tubing is done in mexico, and then the assembly/joints are done in waterloo WI.So in mid 2012 we see a glory carbon proto? Or giant does not produce carbon frames for trek ?
if it says oclv, its done in wisconsin, there is no mexico involved.definitely not for the session, or any of their mountain bikes. OCLV is made stateside, although I think the tubing is done in mexico, and then the assembly/joints are done in waterloo WI.
Have no idea who makes their lower end tct carbon road bikes.
There's a mention of a new "gravity rig" coming from Specialized in this article on Bike Rumor:specialized talks alot of smack on carbon dh bikes, don't see that happening soon
who says it's a demo revamp or replacement? S has more than one 'gravity rig' in their lineup.waaaaat....specialized has only the single most popular bike at every race I've been to this year. They could surf on that bike alone for another year or two before revamping it.
that's what I was thinking...that way all the "gotta have it" guys would switch to carbon, and the po' folk could buy something almost as awesome...They could also sell both a alu and carbon verison of the Demo as they do with all their XC and trail bikes.
Are you hinting at something? I can't tell -_-Specialized is droping one of their gravity rigs and replacing it everybody knows that.... and yes the replacement is very sexy ;D
That's happening soon.specialized talks alot of smack on carbon dh bikes, don't see that happening soon
Trek, who said anything about a demo? For the Trek carbon? ....or the Demo carbon?????
Awwww crap.... LOL Im just building my M9 up..+1
Now I'm waiting for a carbon M9.
