wow.

1. Hot wiring a truck is super easy
could be, i was under the impression it was more of a tv/movie stunt. I am sure its possible, but from what i know, its pretty darn difficult
2. Sounds like i could steal your bikes off your truck pretty easily with a set of bolt cutters or a hacksaw
and a ladder, sure you could, but it would not nearly be worth your time. Its obviously possible, but im probably the last car you would want to steal from in a time/risk/reward sense

3. Sounds like i could steal your truck without you noticing pretty easily by just cutting the air lines to your horns or the wires to your solenoid
yes, and pretty easily, if you saw it coming.

4. I'm fairly certain fox did things like lock up their truck/trailer and set the alarm on the truck before they went to sleep at night.
never know for sure, but i would hope so
5. The truck was a new ford, it probably had ford sync to track it.

6. The thieves were good enough at this that they disabled the alarm, disabled sync, hotwired the truck and were able to get it somewhere hidden before the fox techs woke up in the morning and discovered it stolen. It sounds like this is not their first rodeo stealing expensive, high profile stuff.

Agree with this, Obviously not for the fox, but i think that the average theif (where i live) just looks to take somethin incident, its alot easier to pick a bike off a truck than deal with 6 locks per bike. (and in my case, very high off the ground) The catch is that if somebody really wanted it, they could just take the bed off the truck. That said, it takes a real criminal to jack something like fox has, and it may not have helped them, but i guess it comes down to being "1 step ahead" Sure you could cut the lines to my horns if you could get to them, but would you be expecting it? I (yes me) believe if they had rigged up some kind of loud alarm or horn, it would have helped them. (aside from the tracking) What criminal expects a train horn? :D
I can hear my car alarm go off from the top of the mtn, forget about a hotel at 2AM. Sucks for fox, my guess is that since its not found by now, its not going to be found
Now you're just looking for excuses not to look as dumb as Mooshu, but it's not working.

its rlly not hard to steal anything to be honnest.

I walked into my lbs yesterday, they had the door wide ( so you dont hear the chime go on and off cause its wide open ) and no one up front, theres a couch right beside the doorway, theres a carbon stumpjumper just chilling there on the couch, finaly someone walks up after like a minute told them they were crazy for leaving it right there anyway.....

I've never worked on diesel trucks, but if they are like a vw.all you gotta do is ****ing rip the grill off the front truck, pop the hood from the outside, emedietly dissconnect the battery, get inside without alarms going off,re-connect batt, jump stater and were off.

trailor for sure 100% was not even "de pinned" from the hitch im more then sure, hense why they got away with everything quick and easy.

if they had the trailor off with a huge ass lock ( my buddy has one for his boat trailor ) you would hear the angle grinder or sawzall ****ing going away at it in the night and someone would be up

vw's are even easier, break the door handle, open the door, pop hood same effect for the battery, plug in vagcom ( special vw tool for computer etc. ) start the car and your off

drive to location rip engine tranny and brakes and suspension right there you can have close to 8000$ in parts to sell as a complet "swap" for those who are automotive related.

not a thief, been in the vw world here localy long enough to know all about it

Wait, so you're suggesting it wasn't a bunch of French Eskimos hopped up on Labatts and poutine who thought it was full of fuzzy pelts? Someone might have, like, planned to steal it? Gasp!

I can see your points... sorta. With regards to your loud ass horn- how is it any different than a regular alarm on fox's truck given the circumstances?

It's a brand new super duty- I can guarantee you it comes with an alarm that arms when you lock the doors. I'm not actually a car psychic, I'm actually not even that smart, so I'm guessing other people could figure that out too. What difference does it make if it's a regular alarm or a train horn if the thief knows they need to disable it?

What year is your truck? Is it new enough to guarantee it has an alarm also? If it is, you've lost your element of surprise should anyone want to steal your vehicle too ;)

So they just took the forks, including the shim kits? Has anyone called RS, Zoke, Stratos, Hannebrink, etc as to their whereabouts that evening?

From Pinkbike:

"The thieves cut a hole in the side wall, came inside, cut out the back door locks and removed everything bike and suspension related. They knew what they were after as they even took our shim tuning kits and left other valuables around them. They weren’t able to get into our tools as we had a second lock on those."
Unusual kharma at work here:

Pinkbike gets a tip from a member of the MTB community that they saw the stolen FOX rig pass them on the road and in turn the authorities were notified leading to its recovery. But as it turns out it seems that the theft was perpetrated by members of the MTB community in the first place.

I like to think there's a special place in hell for guys like this... treating your own like that... :disgust:

In this day and age it is hard to believe that people are still crazy enough to pull stunts like this, and that it was fellow mountain bikers that would do sh!t like this! It's a sad day when you can't have faith in the community that you are working in and providing a service for...

May they burn in whatever hell they believe in.

a photo from the Dirt magazine facebook page, sweet.

Hope they catch the guys that did it and I'd like to hear the court session.

Bad news: The company you own has to make all the replacement goods in house. :(

This crime is so confusing to me. If you're an intelligent thief with the ability to pull this heist off and the knowledge of how to do it....why would you just take the bike parts?

The shop tools were worth way more than anything bike related in the back. And a lock isn't going to keep them out of the expensive tools if they stole a big rig and hacked their way into it.

EXACTLY!

... or why didn't they jack the pickup, or at least strip it?!

Weird.
