Just wondering, Does anybody know what kind of fender Fabien Barrel and CG use? Its the type thay go under the lower crown of fork and not under the steerer tube.

Are you referring to the cut inner tube that is held on by zipties to the lower crown and arch?

I have strong notions about an increase in aerodynamic efficiency in regards to the Moondraker fenders.

now u mention it i wouldnt put it past Barel for running it for those reasons. Any sort of small advantage and hell try it. Not to take anything from him Im quite a fan of his

although the ones they've been using look like an updated version. I can't find any other info, no websites or anything. I've been using a similar fender modified from a downtube fender for years. They used to use the Marzocchi fender modified to fit to the fork arch, but this new model looks much sleeker.

They don't clog up with mud. they do block much more from hitting you in the face compared to the innertube method. My suggestion is to buy a 10 dollar downtube fender, drill eight holes and zip tie it to the fork arch. It doesn't move. I leave mine on all the time.

The quicker you go, the less you clog. What may be fine for Fabien etc could be a PITA for the rest of us :)

A lot of guys around the NW are starting to run these little guys.

They work much better then the inner tube from crown to crown. I thought they were kind of gimmicky until I made one for myself and gave it a shot.

That has the same problem as the innertube guards though - a lot of mud splatter you get is thrown forwards by your tyre after it's passed the fork arch, and then hangs in the air ready for you to ride into.
