Is that right? My saint finally gave up the ghost and I have a X9 rear and X7 trigger. But the X7 only has 7 clicks. Since it's one to one shouldnt there technically be 8 or 9?

It's an older X7 btw. The screen on the trigger has 1 • 5 • 7 (or 9 - it's scratched off)

I cant seem to find any info on a 7 speed X7 trigger. Adfter my weeklong trip to the british virgin islands and missing a weeks pay at a new job Im flat broke until next friday so Im trying to make **** work on a budget.

Add insult to injury I have a 8 speed rear road cassette from the DH bike, 8 speed mtb rear cassette.

Isn't 7 clicks a 8speed. 8-7(1) 7-6(2) 6-5(3) 5-4(4) 4-3(5) 3-2(6) 2-1(7) seems like it should work with your 8speed cassette to me.

X.5, x.7, x.9, x.o are all 9sp (well, disregarding the 10sp stuff) currently. You might have a gunked up shifter thats not engaging all the prawls properly. Hit it with some spray can degreaser (get the straw inside the shifter) and shift it up and down a bunch while doing so. If it clears and starts shifting correctly hit it with a little spray on tri-flow. This is assuming your old x.7 is 9sp and just malfunctioning.

Not sure exactly, its off an Evil Sovereign I bought awhile back. Im gonna throw it on today and see if it shifts through everything properly. I had accidentally opened it up and put it all back together before and thought that might be the issue but it sees the shift pull/release the cable fine.

The 8 speed cassette thats on it is off the Evil as well so I assume its all gravy but it had some shifting issues as well.
