Hot Coffee just premiered tonight, great documentary on the corruption of the US judicial system under the guise of tort "reform". Another part of America ruined largely by Karl Rove and his friends.

I just watched this. Many of my opinions and positions have definitely changed in the last 1.5 hours. Pretty much anything that says 'chamber of commerce' on it I will now be against. Not that I wasn't already very negative to them.

I think the USCC were featured in Food Inc too.

The Dhamma Brothers is cool. Caught it on Hulu. It's about "an overcrowded, violent max-security prison" in Alabama that's "dramatically changed by the influence of an ancient intesnive meditation program", Vipassana. Makes good sense.

Bummed to learn the Conan doc is just about his live show. I was hoping for some inside juice on the NBC nonsense. Oh well.

Anyone see Into Eternity about a nuclear waste repository in Finland? It looks intriguing but it never was released widely in the states as far as I can tell. Not available on netflix or itunes either at the moment.

Trinity And Beyond. About US Nukular testing, JFC we were crazy.
JFC is right. I watch a lot of disturbing, frustrating, upsetting, challenging make-ya-crazy-pull-your-hair-out docs but couldn't get through this one. I was already pissed off knowing what little I knew about the topic, it's too much to process in this greater detail.

Giving it another try tonight but holy shodokan batman this is The Gnar.

I just watched Tapped and GenerationRX.

While we don't drink much bottled water, we are going to be making an even more concerned effort to keep our reusable bottles with us. We knew the impact of the bottles wasn't good, but didn't know how fully bad it was. Also, BPA in water coolers?! Wtf? Done using those now.

As for GenerationRX, I think I'm going to try to find a new neurologist who can prescribe me off of my epilepsy drugs... Wifey is going to get of the stuff she's on too. Just not worth it.

Saw Senna over the weekend. Lots of sniffling in the theatre toward the end.

Also watched Forgiving Dr. Mengele. Obviously not a feel good movie, but an incredible story about an incredible woman.

Just saw Tapped per the above recommendation and I pass that along to everyone. Watch this movie! Even if you think you know all the muck about bottled water. The situation is waaaay worse than I was aware.

GenRX is on the cue.

Also recently saw Jiro Dreams of Sushi. I don't think it's out yet but it's a great doc about a master sushi chef and his restaurant in Japan. Unless the sight of raw fish makes you sick to your stomach, I don't think you need to like sushi to get something good out of this one. FYI, subtitled.

I haven't bought a bottle of water since I saw the movie. I always have my bottle and have been collecting litter bottles when I see then around, just to recycle them.

As for GenRX, it was a major factor in me hammering my neurologist to drastically cut my anti-seizure meds. Wifey also got off everything she was on. Beyond things like ibuprofen we are pretty much done taking drugs regularly.

So what you're saying is you never needed them to begin with? (not so much your anti-seizure meds, but whatever your wife was on)

Long-term prescriptions. Things that she was prescribed years ago and never thought to get rid of after situations changed.

All-in though, the more I have been reading about miscellaneous chemicals in food, drugs and normal personal care goods, the more I get freaked out about using that stuff. The body's dependency on some of this stuff is insane...

For years I have sweat like a wookie in a sauna, so I always used clinical strength antiperspirant. Since I haven't been working I pretty much stopped wearing it (waste of money, unnecessary, etc) and the darnedest thing happened. After 2-3 weeks of not wearing it, my perspiration levels dropped significantly and the BO I had to be super concerned about has gone away. When I am out riding, running, etc I sweat less and the BO is about the same, but those are situations when I shower immediately afterwards though. It's like my body had to stop fighting to sweat enough for cooling and re-adjusted to natural levels.

Same with dry scalp/dandruff. I used to have really short hair and use 'product' to spike it up every morning; I had the worst dry scalp and my head always itched. I stopped cutting my hair and getting professional looking every morning, and suddenly that issue is gone as well. I've noticed it across the board. I water shave instead of using cream and I have less acne.

And the interesting thing is that our expenses for personal care goods has dropped by almost 50%. We are no longer buying products to fix the problems caused by other products.

Azorian: The Raising of K-129

About US efforts to recover a sunken Russian sub in the early 70's. Probably not for everyone, large segments concerning the technical aspects/development thereof of the ship and associated recovery equipment, but if your mechanically inclined/enginerd/cold war history buff you'll probably appreciate it. Just finished it on teh netflix instant view.

Now I want to watch The Abyss.

Watched The Tillman Story over lunch. I'd read Where Men Win Glory so not much was new to me. But seeing some of the things talked about in the book was eye opening.
What a gut wrenching story. Fvcking absolutely shameful how they were used. As if I needed another reason to think the entire Bush 2 administration needs to rot in the Hague.

I would think there would be SOMEPLACE here showing it. Clinton, Hawthorne, Mission, SOMEWHERE! Hell, I think Art still has a house in the West Hills.

<edit> Maybe if I run into him again at Zupans I will ask him about it.

I ran into him with my wife and a buddy @ a Freddy's one afternoon in Lake Oswego. This was right after I heard he had declared bankruptcy. He seemed embarrassed to have been recognized.
