mandown,

Would you recommend them? Would you get them again? I'm about to pull the trigger on these. But, the price (and the fact that I have fairly new Atomlabs) are kind of making me trigger shy. They do look nice though.

yes you can... well, i can. i've got 510s and i can feel vibrations through the shoe as the axle and sole rub through the rotation. it isn't much, but you can "feel" it if you pay attention.

Yes, I would recommend them. And I'm currently considering a second pair for my other non-DH bike. I will preface it with a warning that I haven't had much time on them, only a few XC-ish rides and one day of shuttle runs. Comparing them to pedals I've had over the years, they feel like they should be good, but I don't have enough test time on them to say much that is terribly meaningful in terms of real-world experience. My day of shuttle runs was my first back on the bike after months off from an injury, and I was in some very loose gnar, which I hate. The pedals didn't feel as natural as I hoped they would, but I was still dusting off the cobwebs, and I had failed to use the super-long pins around the spindle as suggested by the instructions. I hope to have more meaningful input soon.

I did have a set of Atomlabs for a while that I liked a ton, except for the fact that the retaining clip popped off in a parking lot test pedal, and I could never get that out of my head. I sold them. I've also recently run the Arachnid pedals from Darkcycles which are super nice, though I need a bearing overhaul.

Now back to e13 goodnees. I want to know more :)

they look like Twenty6 pedals but uglier. I'll pass. The poly ones were cool--but these just look like another bland addition to an already flooded market.
I feel the same. The market is flooded with expensive pedals but none wowed me so far. The thin pancake race got silly. I want crazy grip and pins that stay on. Pedals dont have to be crazy thin, just not too high. Though these ones dont even look very thin. Simply nothing special.

I'd be for/against based on price. I like my HT/Deity pedals a lot. They are super grippy and light, and should they fail, they're cheap. I don't think there's a pedal on the market that comes quite as close.

So a bunch of variants of the pedals earlier today. They look pretty nice. Not sure what is the expected MSRP on them?

Those are the full CNC pin-placement mule prototypes that have been rocking around all season...DH race pedal that lasts. Final pedal should be a bit prettier...need to save something for Interbike right? ;)

Hey philip! any possibility of a revision on the cranks? specifically putting a radius on the square edged relief on the crankarms....i LOVED the cranks but my sneakers get hung up on them really badly........

jokes aside i am pretty psyched on seeing the latest from these pedals...I really love the e.13 product line...good call on the square edge, havent noticed it much but that would help a bit...

Having seen these things in person, all I can say is that I am very very interested to see the final design. Pins are well placed, spin control is brilliant and like all things e.13, they will indeed be kickass. Haters can hate, but there are a lot of sh!t pedals out there, however I will wager that these will not be at the bottom of the bin...remotely. In fact, I'd put them at the top with the Burgtecs.

yah, didn't burgtec finally get with the program recently and bring their 40mm thick pedal down to 39mm thickness because they realized customers wanted thinner pedals?

Pretty much the only pedals worth buying are crampons and point ones if you're willing to spend for high end, and wahwah's/decoys/the bagillion other pedals that are all exactly the same price/pedal if you're not.

Haven't noticed it at all, but then again, I don't rub my shoe/ankle much.

I have crampons now, i do like them but the one draw back to me is the center spindle...I have some footing issues occasionally...I might be willing to give up some thin(ness) for well placed pins.

i concur. best balance of light weight / great performance / price & durability ever. pedals are consumables; dumping big coin on something like this that gets routinely smashed on rocks is just silly, imo. i'm a big fan of these:

I disagree. I have purchased quality pedals that lasted for years. I am not sold on the plastic pedal fad at all. Time will tell, but I suspect they will go away just like they have in years past - granted the composites now are better, but I still think metal pedals will stay the norm.

i have to kind of agree. I have some atomic pedals from 2002 that are still going strong. I rebuilt them at the start of last season with fresh bearings, pins, and a little grease. They are fantastic pedals that cost a premium then and have lasted so friggin long.

However, try a pair of the HTs. They are superbly grippy, and they are 200g lighter than my atomics. I hope a fix is developed for the end cap problem, but if not, I'll ride them till the splode then buy a few replacement parts.

do plastic pedals work?

not really sure...

as a long-time BMX rider (also mountain biker and work in the industry) alot of BMX riders fell for the cheap / weight saving option of plastic BMX pedals but soon realised the durability was piss poor and went back to using metal pedals

considering we don't even ride rocky mountain environments but generally smoother cement skateparks and concrete / steel street terrain??

I was referring to the alu HTs.

IMO plastic pedals, like magnesium pedals and EXO sidewall tires, aren't really built for DH, and you can only get away with them if you have non-rocky terrain; and a high bottom bracket helps too

I have friends in California who have 2+ years on the same set of MG-1 pedals. That's not happening out here where pedals strikes on rocks are a daily occurrence (if not every run). Santa Cruz and Bellingham are pretty damn easy on your equipment.
