Hi,

So I have a brand new Boxxer r2c2 on a brand new bike. If I merely lift up the front end of the bike and slam it down on the ground (while standing next to it) I hear a hideous clacking sound. It almost sounds like a piece of metal snapping. The fork; however, feels amazing but I know this sound cannot be good, and I will not a allow a brand new bike to clack the whole way down the trail :( ... I checked the spring isolators and they are nicely spaced. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Spring rattling inside the lowers? Could always take it out and make sure its got plenty of grease on it.

What IHATERICE said, you should rebuild it before you use it. Sram's usually pretty spot on with never putting enough oil, grease, work into their forks. Rebuild it and then see if it still does it.

Hey TMRracing,
Did you ever figure out what that noise was from your Boxxer? I'm having the exact same problem. I did have an angleset installed, but that seems to be fine - its tight. I checked the spring and it's good. If I ride steeper rocky stuff, or slam the front end down it makes that horrible metal on metal clack. Please let me know what it ended up being.
Thanks!

In a Van(couver) down by the river
^^almost, but not quite as bad a sound as that.

Check to make sure the stanchions are properly aligned with each other. Mine was making the same kind of sound, and when I looked closer one of my stanchions was sitting a few mm higher in the crown than the other. I realigned everything and the noise is gone.
