does anybody have their medium sunday handy that can take a few measurements for me? I want to compare my sunday to another frame- I need the top tube and down tube measurements...

I can take mine at home, but if you're reading this and looking for something to do, help me out :D

Hi peeps. My first post, so be gentle.
I was just wondering if anybody has tried a vivid r2c on a sunday? Just i've an opertunity to buy my mate's off him. It's off an Intense 951 and it came with the frame, but i was concerned about any tuning issues if anything. It's tuned to the 951 i.e tune-b. But can it be converted to run with my sunday, tune-a from the info i've gained from this thread. Or will there be enough adjustments for it to still work with my steed. Most off all will it fit without rubbing issues, i reckon i'll only need the 350 spring. Cheers.

I"ve got one on my 08 sunday with the proper vivid linkage so no mods necessary for the r2c. I'm 175lbs 180 geared up and am running a 300lb spring with it. I have the lighter A-tune version and the lsc still seems a bit stiff for small bump sensitivity. I think I might need to mod it and make it a bit lighter.

I"ve got one on my 08 sunday with the proper vivid linkage so no mods necessary for the r2c. I'm 175lbs 180 geared up and am running a 300lb spring with it. I have the lighter A-tune version and the lsc still seems a bit stiff for small bump sensitivity. I think I might need to mod it and make it a bit lighter.
Cheers for the reply bud. Do you know what the difference is between the A-B and C tunes and can they be changed by the home mechanic if need be?

I can't tell you if they're interchangeable, but A is light and C is heavy. Expect slow rebound and compression on the B, and expect mud in the C tune....

I'm guessing then, if it is the mid (B) tune there's not enough adjustments on the shock to suit my frame? And I'm best off buying a vivid with the A-Tune as standard.

I think your best bet would be to either run the B-Tune as it is, or to find an A-Tune. Buying the B and then trying to get it changed will probably be a waste of money, as it requires a different shaft as well as service costs.

For the record, according to the SRAM chart (and 2.67:1 leverage ratio), the Sunday would actually fall into the B-Tune category, even though it was spec'd with the A from factory - not saying that makes the B legit for it, but it shouldn't be that bad really.

If this shock is your mate's, then maybe he'd let you try it out before buying. That'd be your best bet.

From what my mechanic friend said who does this regularly, it's just replacing the shim stacks inside. I can't tell you if it's easy as I've never done one and wouldn't feel comfortable doing it without someone with experience helping me out. You can download the technical manual for the vivid for a proper breakdown but if I remember correctly, you have to have a special adapter for the valve to get it to work with a schrader to recharge the unit. I'm sure someone else will chime in for this too to correct me if I'm wrong.

So I just bought a Rockshox Vivid 5.1 for my IH Sunday and installed it the other day. Now I have a big problem, the reservoir is hitting the bottom bracket tube!:mad:....I am stuck on how to get it to clear?....The shock is 3.0X9.0 with a 450LBS coil installed. I need help very badly, this is a great thread and I hope you guys can help me out with my problems. Thanks...First time posting, and first IH so be gentle on this noob:)

Have you got a picture?

The shock should be oriented so the piggyback is on the bottom, and facing backwards (very close to the lower link). You probably knew that but just making sure.

If the shock is installed correctly then there would have to be something very wrong with your frame...

Haven't played with the mounting alot yet so wasn't sure aside of different links accepted different shocks. Figured you'd know :thumb:

Does anybody know where I would be able to buy new rocker linkages and shock bolts? I live in Australia if that makes a difference.

Give TBSM a call on (02) 9586 0138. I purchased an upper rocker assembly and spares from them a few months ago, they may still have some. When Iron Horse went bust they bought up all the spares from the distributor so they should have most things.

What you you recommend for settings with a rockshox vivid 5.1 and a r3c2? At least something to get me started. I feel like its not doing the best it can on the smaller stuff, but the big stuff is great.

One more thing, does the new linkage provide any other benefit other than increased clearance, or is similar to how the Lopes Link operates on the Ibis Mojo?

vivid: Do you have the A-tune as it is "lighter" than the B tune. Settings wise assuming your sag is correct, one must make sure the low speed compression (blue) knob is fully on fast to absorb the small stuff. If you don't, it'll feel like crap (it's relative though) so don't run any low speed compression with the sunday and your scenario. You can adjust the rebounds to your liking however it seems like the big stuff is good for the high speed adjustments.

I hope it's the A tune... I bought it second hand off someone, so hopefully he knew what he was doing. Is there any way to easily check? Mine stated "A" on the box and am unsure about on the shock where to look. Sorry.

Correct spring rate and then shock collar, correct. Make sure your'e in attack position and not sitting when measuring the sag. Do the fork the same way. The SRAM site has the proper fork sag how to on their site as a pdf.

I would suggest you try different weights in Steel springs before you go and spend the money on a Ti.

In fact, I would suggest you hold off on the Ti spring and spend the money on something more useful, like ride time, or tires/brakes/consumables. You don't seem to be too knowledgeable about suspensions, are you really going to notice the difference in your suspension because your spring weighs less?

Probably not, I had always thought that a Ti spring made a difference in the way that it feels. i weigh about 205 lbs with gear and run a 350. i like low sag as well on the sunday (somewhere around 20-255%) so i would get something like that.

in my opinion, Ti does feel slightly different - a bit more responsive. A nerd told me that was due to the inertia of the spring, but im not sure if it was all in my head.

i would get Ti on my sunday but i never want to go through the pain of removing the shock ever again.

Ive got a k9 on order now, and will keep the sunday running. Im interested to see the difference. Ive got a short local track where i can get very consistent freelap times, ill see how the k9 goes by comparison.

I just got my new rocker linkage in the mail today and I'm 99.9% sure it's the pre 2008 one. Can anybody confirm?

Yup, that's pre 2007 infact.
Well that's worse than I thought. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a set of F7 ones.

they fittet a rocker like that (or at least the hinge of it) on hills bike in ft william:
