25% sag, 2 turns on bottom out, ending stroke rebound 8 clicks from full slow, beginning stroke rebound 13 clicks from full slow, low and high speed compression both 3 clicks from full open

Ride:
Came from a sunday, so this thing has a similar feel, except its better everywhere. More bottom out resistance with the more progressive shock curve, corners awesome, levels terrain, super stable... basically it kicks ass and makes me a better rider. Simply put, its just easier to go fast. Can't wait to get it to the park and do some races.

Thanks to Fanatik Bike for the frame and some parts, and another thanks to Go-Ride for some other parts. Both were great to deal with...

That thing looks awesome! I personally love the color coordination of the green and blue.

What spring rate are you running? I only ask becuase your shock settings are dead on the guidelines that I put together last year, but on the rebound side you are running the same amount that I am with a 350 spring. I tested with a couple guys around your weight and we were between 400 and 450 springs, and -5 to -4 on rebound respectively. Could be just a different damper though. Just curious really, have fun!

Its no coincidence, as I based the set up on a post of yours on mtbr, LOL. However, I found the rebound at -5 to be a tad slow for my tastes. Still in the very, very early days of setting this up tho, so things may obviously change. And I'm running a 400# spring, with slightly higher psi in the reservoir than you recommended (150 v. 140). I'll likely try a 450# too, as I had my previous Sunday set up with a stiffer shock and liked it. In any event, major kudos on this bike DW. Its simply amazing.

Awesome, I'm stoked to hear that you are loving it! Right on with the shock, in my experience not every one is created exactly equal, and as the shock breaks in you may find a need to adjust settings a little. Have a blast on that bike!!

DW: Appreciate the support on these forums, and of course all your fine work as evidenced by my new Ride! Keep it up!

Chillindrdude: As stated above, I started the shock settings at DW's recommended settings, and have tweaked a bit from there. Still a ways to go tho, but it feels really good so far. Definitely going to try a 450# spring too, to see how it differs... if so, I may reduce compression settings.

Ian Collins: Your bike is pretty sweet man. Much of the weight difference is likely due to my wheel set up... with the cut storms and flows set up tubeless with nothing but electrical tape and some stans, they're hella light. Was also surprised at the weight of the descendants... we'll see how they go, hopefully better than the gravity lights I broke in half ;o)

Others: thanks for the props, and post up yours!

Hey Kootenay. How do you find the length of the reach and the wheelbase? I am 6'3" coming off a large Shocker and am unsure which to go? The reach on the XL is the same or very close to other frames I am looking at, but the wheelbase is real long!

Curious to hear your thoughts on this. I am really comfortable in the cockpit of the Shocker, so really struggling to see which one I would go.

Thanks.

PS. Thing looks amazing!

Sorry to kick up this old thread, Probably pulling the trigger on one this week and was hoping to get some set up help.

I am 6' tall, weigh 190ish, and the frame has an RC4 shock.

Some shock set up settings and spring # would be awesome to get me started. (cough cough....DW..... cough cough)

Also, anyone have a long term review they would want to share?

may i ask why you have such high compression settings for the rear shock?
he probly likes that terrible damping for pedaling.

allot of the dw link bikes I see coming down the mountain all look stupid stiff in terms of suspension work/dynamics

smith runs a 300 on his devinci however

Deviate from the rebound settings. DW is a total hack. :D

Just kidding on part two. But seriously....tweak the rebound early and often to get the setting you like dialed in. Try not to even touch the stock settings until you go that route first.

i'll chime in as i'm not far from your size(6'1" 180) and i've been riding one for a while now...

i've been riding an elka for a few months and i really like it, however, the rebound on elkas have a very different feel(some aspects are good, some are less than perfect)....

so i've ridden them(DHR's) with an RC4 but not too extensively...ironically, however i drove up to Turner today and snagged an RC4 to try just for comparisons sake....

first run i basically stuck to DW's guidelines exactly but packed on just two clicks more LSC and one click of rebound just based on my personal taste.....the bike felt a little squirrely and a little wallowy so i bumped the PSI to 150, added two clicks of HSC, and yet another of LSC(historically i run alot of LSC) and 1.25 turns in the air volume....

bike instantly felt amazing on the second run....so good....i like the elka, and compression wise the RC4 feels a little dead in comparison...but conversely it's better in bermed turns and it doesnt dive as much, or kick me out of turns funny...the elka is lacking slightly in low speed rebound, but it handles big hits better than anything i've ridden to date....i'm going to have Erik do another tune here shortly on my elka and see how it compares....either way...both shocks are great and i'm beyond stoked on the frame....by the way...the track i've been testing on is world cup as fuçk! it has everything in it and is a great trail to really see what products are capable of....

good luck
