hello everyone
now i have a code 5 front brake and i coud buy really cheap a elixir R rear brake.
I was wondering if it woud be possible and better if i combine the eixir R lever with the code caliper in the front and the juicy 5 lever with the elixir r in the back.
I've read that a lot of people and even specialized use the elixir CR lever/ code caliper combo but i have no idea how it will work with an elixir R lever.
Also is it possible to combine the juicy 5 lever with the elixir caliper? I dont care if i loose a little bit of stopping power, cause the braking power in the front is way more important for me.
If i woudn't have this good offer for the elixir r i woudn't think of making things like this, but i like to experiment and just wanted to ask if my idea is even possible and what the effects from this woud be.

Thanks in advance :thumb:

You could just buy a pair of Code R's and get the same result without having 2 franken brakes.

I am running Elixir CR levers with code calipers with 0 problems, well other then air likes to hide in the damn code calipers. Santa cruz used to run Juicy Ultimate levers on their code calipers for the syndicate team, and specialized sold the combo I am using. I don't see you having any problems as long as you have the right fittings. But I am no expert.

Im over here now
i sold my Elixr CR lever/Code caliper setup to phycoref after running it for a bit and i loved it.
the Elixr R lever is essentially the same as the CR lever, so itll work. and yes, you can use the Juicy lever with Elixr caliper

What kind of a fail did you have with your Elixir CR levers?
My pistons would always leak brake fluid pass the seals and contaminate my brake pads/ also the pistons had trouble moving back in, and the lever body piston would fail on me frequently. Sram took care of me 100% but sending the brakeset back every month kinda got annoying.

Wouldn't the leaking pistons and piston problems be related to the calipers rather then the lever? How do you find the power from the Juicy lever compared to the Elixir lever? The only thing that I have been finding is that it needs to be bled A LOT. Seems like it is constantly getting air in, but I can't find any wet spots to show leaks or fluid going past the seals and I would think all the tough bubbles would have come out after 3 bleed within maybe 5 weeks and only riding the bike on average 1 to 2 times a week...
