Had some moderate wind this morning with clouds, not a drop of rain. Went for a great ride with the cooler temps and wind.

Sunny and warm here...no sight of any rain for the near future either

... Record high temperature set at Wacko...

a record high temperature of 109 degrees was set at Wacko today.
This breaks the old record of 104 set in 1998.

The surf report website I use took these pictures.. I've surfed next to this pier since I was 8 years old. :( They're going to rebuild but theres no telling how long it'll take..

Guess it's easier now to take a long walk off a short pier.

Maryland, east coast.
All we suffered here was an occasional gust of maybe 50mph or so. Not the major down pours I was expecting. Light drizzle mostly. Only one tree limb down in my yard. I was worried about these 150 foot trees in my neighbors yard behind me. My house is only 100 feet from them. Not only would they take out the power, they'd hit the house.

Friday I built a cover for my hot pepper plants and they survived. Took it all down today and gave them a nice drink of water.

Had my hurricane survival kit ready! Yes, I drink Guinness, Pete's and Sam Adams and such but I keep this stuff around the house for a pinch.

AND my Hurricane survival food, good old Maryland steamed crabs!!!

And my power went out for 21 hours. Went out around 2:45am last night and just came back on tonight around 10pm. Or I would have been on RM the whole time. It was quite boring sitting in the house with nothing to do. I did manage to get a generator going with some extension chords and got some lighting and the fridge going! So I ate some more steamed crabs tonight by a lamp.

Power went back on about 10 tonight. And as you can see, my best buddy didn't seem to mind. He was chillin in the back yard today as if nothing happened.

Overall it was uneventful. But I am buying a generator and having it hooked up to my grid for next time so I can have electric in the whole house. I hear it's pretty easy. Hook up an "A/B" switch to a junction box inline on the way to the panel. Switch off the power company when it goes down, plug in the genny and get 240 in the whole house. Should run about $1,500 for a good Honda 8000 watt 240v 30A generator. I heard there is a way to do back feed into your line but it's dangerous because if you forget to turn off your main power to the panel before you plug it in, when the power goes back on, it can back feed 240 through the line and kill any power line worker picking up a line that they think is dead. Scary thought. I'm going to have mine hooked up to code. Any electricians out there that know what I'm talking about. A guy across the street has his wired up like that. He had power all day, even ran an extension chord to both of his neighbors so they could keep their fridge going. Very good idea. Not to mention, winter time, you still keep your heat! That's what I like about the idea.

My looting plans got quashed because the fish truck has a dead battery. I tried to loot one here with no success. I have come to terms with the fact that looting is stealing and I am not a thief. Phugging morals always ruining all the fun.

I'll post some pics of the damage at my folks place when I get back from work. Pretty much haven't slept all weekend from around the clock cleanup and travel. Their area got blown up pretty bad.
